At SUBMON, we're committed to bridging the gap between local communities and #MarineConservation 💙 Our involvement in the #SHOREproject at Pérez Sala School in Vilassar de Mar (a fishing village in Catalonia) exemplifies this commitment: supported by the SEA2SEE Project and BiodivOcean ERASMUS+ projects, this initiative integrates #OceanLiteracy into the school's curriculum through a "Blue Calendar" of activities. 🌊🎒🐟 These include field trips, interactive workshops and cooking sessions, as well as citizen science projects, all designed to deepen #students' understanding of the vital connection between land and sea. 🔄 By engaging students with their local environment, we're fostering a sense of stewardship that ensures the preservation of both cultural traditions and marine ecosystems. 📍 The ideal setting of Pérez Sala School, located in a coastal community rich in #fishing traditions and natural heritage, provides students with a tangible and practical understanding of how actions on land impact the marine environment. But our involvement in the SHORE Project doesn’t stop at the local level! 🇪🇺 By aligning the actions within the Mission Ocean, and building synergies through the other European projects involved, we’re amplifying the action's impact across borders 🌍💪 Together with our partners and the school community, we will continue working to build a sustainable marine future! This week, as part of the BiodivOcean (Erasmus+) project, the Blue School Pérez Sala de Vilassar de Mar (Catalonia) went on a very special visit to l’Albera Marítima. 🌊 This Mediterranean zone it's also one of the demo sites of the Blue Connect Project, highlighting the importance of the site as a hub for collaboration and innovation in marine education and conservation. 🐚🌱 The day was filled with marine exploration, scientific outreach, and environmental education that came together to inspire the next generation. 🤗 The youngest participants had the opportunity to discover the incredible marine richness of this unique area while learning the importance of protecting it. This outing is a perfect example of how schools and projects can join forces to create truly transformative experiences! The action is supported by the #SHOREproject.
