Congratulations to Prof. gopal naik, JJM Chair Professor, for his recent publication in PLOS ONE: ‘Rural drinking water supply program and societal development: Evidence from the early implementation phase of India's Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM)’. Co-authored alongside Prof. Abinash Singh, IIM Visakhapatnam, their research examines JJM's mission to ensure universal access to safe drinking water under UN Sustainable Development Goal 6.1. The findings highlight early successes in reducing the water collection burden on women while calling out inequities in water access that favor wealthier households. The study also advocates for stronger ground-level systems to achieve JJM’s vision of sustainable and equitable water supply. The pandemic gave rise to work from home and remote meetings and the universal feeling that the lack of human interactions led to decreasing quality collaboration, conversations and creativity within organizations. Imagine this problem across organizations. So , it continues to amaze me that these leaders bring their whole self to the conversations during Urban Collective Action Network (U-CAN)'s online steering committee meetings. They practice patient listening, equality and curiosity to delve deeper while staying committed to the time limit. This picture captures a collection of expertise in housing, mobility , climate change, community engagement, urban governance, digital public infrastructure, urban finance. Despite the language differences, we are united in the commitment to work together. Acknowledging Manali Shah, Arun Navaratna (N.S. Arun), Akshay Agarwal for helping put these spaces together.
