Norwegian Embassy in Singapore’s Post

This week in Singapore, the Norwegian flag has been flying high and proud, and visible from afar at two world-leading maritime conferences, Singapore Maritime Week (SMW) and SeaAsia. From Sunday to Wednesday, Deputy Minister of Fisheries and Ocean Policies, Even Tronstad Sagebakken, led the delegation of Norwegian maritime companies, start-ups and institutions to demonstrate the best that Norwegian maritime players bring to the global industry. At SMW, hosted by Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), Deputy Minister Sagebakken took part in a panel discussion at the High-Level Ministerial Dialogue, graced by Senior Minister (former PM) Lee Hsien Loong, to showcase policy measures taken by the Norwegian Government to support the industry.  The Embassy, together with Team Norway, hosted an array of activities during the week, such as the SG-NO Maritime Business Forum where the participation of Senior Minister of State for Transport and Sustainability and Environment, Amy Khor and leaders from ship owning companies, class society, and research centers enriched discussions on relevant developments, and where pioneering companies demonstrated innovative technologies for decarbonization, energy efficiency and digitization. During the visit, Deputy Minister also took part in other activities, connecting with exhibitors at the Norwegian Pavilions over coffee and Norwegian waffles served by Sjømannskirken, and visiting companies such as Odfjell SE, MarinEV, a Yinson GreenTech company, Pelagus 3D, and Singaporean partners such as Singapore Maritime Institute (SMI). Finally, ending the visit Deputy Minster rang in Norway Night, the Embassy’s signature networking event at SMW for high-level maritime leaders and actors.
