The Australian Open Serves Up Innovation 🎾 Who says live sports can’t be animated? The Australian Open is breaking the mold by streaming animated renditions of its matches on YouTube. Using 12 cameras, real-time rendering, and a 2-minute delay, this clever workaround builds digital community while driving viewership—already 4x higher than last year! As niche viewing experiences like this gain popularity (think CBS’ Nickelodeon football or Prime Video’s alternate commentaries), the sports industry is proving that innovation can serve both fans and broadcasters. Could this be the future of sports entertainment? Let us know what you think! https://lnkd.in/eHR4-aCJ

As the sports landscape becomes more fractured, with rights across traditional TV and streaming video, following a team or finding a precise game to watch can be a confusing endeavor. Nielsen's Gracenote aims to tackle that problem with a new solution called "Gracenote On Sports," which will point sports fans to channels and apps where games are played and super-serve them with other data like real-time scores and team standings.

I've never quite understood the value proposition of the (maybe) forthcoming #Venu sports streaming service to the either the mega sports fan, or even the average sports fan. I'm having some trouble figuring out the logic behind it. They will not have #SundayNightFootball, which, if I'm not mistaken, is still the biggest draw in all of TV. They will not have all of the #NFL games that air on #CBS. They won't have #ThursdayNightFootball on Amazon. They wouldn't have any future NFL Christmas games on #Netflix. Not to mention all of the #NBA games they likely won't have by 2025. It's not even going to be close to a "one stop shopping for all sports" kind of service. I think #NBC's Jon Miller does a great job in the article below detailing most of the reasons why I believe Venu isn't going to be a great option for any tier of sports TV consumer (if Venu even makes it out of their case with #Fubo still intact). Does anybody else feel differently? I'd appreciate any insights that might change my perspective! #Disney #WBD #Fox #Paramount #streaming #sports #TV
