Spook-tacular Fundraising: turning Halloween into hope. 💜🧡 At Dreams Come True, we help seriously ill and disabled children who are also living in some of the most deprived areas of the UK. These children face daily challenges most of us can't imagine—but your Halloween fundraising can make a difference. 💫 How you can turn Halloween into hope for these children: • Trick-or-treat—craft some goodies with your kids and sell them to the homes you go to trick-or-treat. • Neighbourhood costume contest—get all the local families to pay to enter their children into the contest, and the winner gets a prize. • Run a spooky-themed Dream Tea Party—host a catch-up with friends, colleagues or family that includes a sale of cakes and coffees. For children facing severe illness and experiencing poverty, a dream provides a lifeline during incredibly challenging times. Every pound you raise goes directly to delivering these magical moments. Today I wrote to our committed giving supporters and said if you need to take a payment break over Christmas, please get in touch. This is why. 1) People on low incomes are often some of the most generous (proportionate to the % of their income they donate). They also feel the pinch more with energy costs, food prices, not to mention financial pressures around Christmas. 2) Our Golden Paw Club is about lots of people giving a little to make a big difference. That is why it starts at £5 a month. We have enough members to cover a few suspended subscriptions. 3) Our Golden Paw Club members are part of our Dogs 4 Rescue family. I want them to know we are caring and approachable whatever their circumstance. 4) I understand they have families too and that Christmas is an expensive time of year. Especially those with young children and elderly relatives. 5) I will continue to send them their monthly newsletters because I firmly believe they will come back to us when the time is right. 6) I believe we will cover the funds with new members who can afford to sign up or a kind donation from someone who values our approach. 7) I'm not interested in exploiting our supporter base for every penny, I'm focused on building a bigger community and long-term relationships which go beyond just asking for donations. Might I be wrong and live to regret the email? Possibly. But we have always done things differently and followed our hearts. And this felt like the right thing to do. dogs4rescue.co.uk

Decluttering is the perfect way to create a calmer environment and help those in need this holiday season. Here’s how you can declutter and donate: 1️⃣ Sort Through Unused Items: Clothes, toys, kitchen gadgets, and book you no longer use can make a huge difference to someone in need or a way for charities to raise much needed funds. Top Tip: If you are struggling with deciding on what to keep, ask yourself "do I really need this or really love it?" if the answer is no its time to let it go. 2️⃣ Donate to Local Charities: Items can be taken to your local charity shops or you could contact local groups such as playgroups and schools for toy donations. Some libraries take books. Or just offer items on Freebie sites and Facebook groups 3️⃣ Get the Family Involved: Turn decluttering into a giving tradition—let everyone pick items to donate. Children can be encouraged to make space for the items Santa may bring them.
