As a manager, one of my skills was providing a calm confident presence for my staff and knowing them individually. Who can and wants to do extra and grow and those that work to party. I leveraged these skills to develop my teams. This would come in handy as a multi-unit manager As it is in some cases today the training for multi-unit management was shadowing someone for a day then you are on your own. This was the case. I and another manager I knew were promoted to the Milwaukee market. At the time it was a train wreck of a market. My area was the worst performing and had three managers and two trainees for eight locations. Not good math for success. The other new multi-unit person had a similar situation. This is where we differed in our approach. The other Multi Unit attacked it like a manager, run as many locations as possible seven days a week, eventually burn out. I took a different approach. I did not run any locations and took two days off per week. How did I do this you ask? I sourced eight good people currently on staff. No management experience was necessary and promoted them while on a parallel path of help wanted in the Milwaukee Journal (The hard copy Indeed of yesterday), and job fairs. In one year, the stores were fully staffed and as a group broke even. Was it without hiccups? No. I did however engage my team with attainable goals and celebrated the wins and coached on the losses. It was time for that next opportunity.

Today, at EBS Universität für Wirtschaft und Recht, me and my fellow students visited an exciting corporate career fair, bringing together some fantastic mid-sized companies. Remember to include skills that would be relevant to the position you are seeking. 5. Now, provide employers with the opportunity to tell YOU what they offer. "What opportunities are available?" Remember, this is just the foundation to build your elevator pitch. ATTENTION ATTENTION: May will be the start of what I’m seeing as the point of no return. It’s not that I think people are reading anything I post and actually creating business plans around them. I know that’s not the case. I post all this from time to time to keep receipts as the kids say. I leverage these public statements years or months from now with a business that has come to realize that all the smart safe people at their businesses were more concerned about their job then they were the truth about the world. Their job fairs don’t work. Their ad words don’t work. Their LinkedIn HR and legal approved flyer don’t work. Their convention pic around the trade show table don’t work. Their post of a flyer saying looking for a social media manager don’t work. None of it works. It takes millions in cash or sweat to build brand. No way around it. And May will be when companies either decide to stop asking “WHATS THE ROI?” Or get in the game and spend money building brand. And that will be millions in trial and error. By summer we will know. And The DCA will be there, with receipts, ready to help businesses turn it around.

Today, I had the immense honor of being a guest speaker at the University of West London’s career fair. It was a truly exhilarating experience to share my life story, from my educational pursuits at UWL and King’s College London to the bold step of launching a business during the uncertain times of the pandemic, and embarking on an exciting journey as a financial analyst, marking the promising beginning of my career. 🗣️ During my talk, I highlighted several key principles: Goals as Your Guiding Star: In both academia and the professional world, goals are essential. They serve as our compass, directing us towards success and fulfillment. The Power of Planning and Structure: Meticulous planning and a well-defined structure breathe life into your goals. Without them, a goal remains a mere aspiration. Consistency and Repetition: These are the pillars of achievement. It is through persistent effort and unwavering dedication that goals are transformed into accomplishments. Self-Competition for Growth: Embrace healthy competition with yourself. This mindset fosters tremendous self-improvement and ignites an unrelenting drive to achieve greater heights. Never Give Up: The importance of perseverance cannot be overstated. Sometimes, you have to take a leap of faith. About a year ago from this time, I was interviewing for the Early Career Development program. It was a brand new program that still had some processes to figure out and finalize. It can be a little intimidating to take a walk in the dark, but sometimes it can lead to tremendous growth and new heights! In just 10 months as a Early Career Development program member at Corteva Agriscience I have had the following opportunities: -Moved to a new state with fields of opportunities to flourish -Attended MANRRS National Conference -ATM / ECD Onboarding Training -Value selling training & DiSC assessment -Completed Dale Carnegie 'High Impact Presentations' training -Completed Corteva Agriscience's Agronomy Essentials program -Recruiting at the University of Missouri-Columbia career fair (MIZ!!) -Networking opportunities with people leaders ranging from research to commercial sales and from Policy & Law to Supply Chain -Opportunities to get out to the field to meet with Territory managers, pioneer reps, and farmers -Serve pioneer reps and territory managers as a sales support coordinator in Iowa and Nebraska -Empowered to lead presentations and projects -Made 7 new lifelong friendships in the ECD program To those who are going through university career fairs as you are either nearing the end of your college journey or maybe just getting started, don't be afraid to take a little risk and try something new, because you never know how far these roads can take you if you never work up the courage enough to explore.
