In November 2022, I was filming this video with open mouth and never imagining that one day I’d find myself in the offshore industry. That was the turning point when I decided it was time to change my life and pursue something bigger. The journey wasn’t easy. I received mixed opinions—some colleagues told me to give up on my dream. But I stayed determined, kept searching, applying, and learning, even as rejection after rejection came in due to my lack of offshore experience. Eventually, my persistence paid off, and I got my golden ticket into the offshore sector. Today, I have nearly two years of offshore experience, working alongside incredible professionals who generously shared their knowledge and supported me every step of the way. I want to thank everyone I’ve worked with for their guidance and encouragement, and the HR managers who believed in people like me, even without direct offshore experience. For those considering a career change, don’t let fear hold you back. The offshore industry might just be waiting for you! Take the leap—you never know where it might lead. #OffshoreIndustry #Motivation #Engineering #MaritimeCareer #OffshoreLife #ProfessionalGrowth #ThirdEngineer

🌊 Why Recruitment Consultants Need to Understand Maritime Certifications 🌊 In the maritime industry, certifications aren’t just boxes to tick, they’re a mark of trust, safety, and expertise. For those working in offshore wind, subsea operations, or any specialist maritime field, having the right certifications can make all the difference. That’s why it’s crucial for recruitment consultants to really “understand” these qualifications, not just recognise them on paper. When consultants understand the meaning and value behind these certifications, it helps everyone involved. They can: 1. Find the Best Fit – Matching the right skills and qualifications to the right roles, especially in industries where safety and technical know how are non negotiable. 2. Ensure Compliance – It’s not just about filling positions; it’s about making sure teams are qualified to meet all regulatory standards. 3. Build Trust – Knowing your stuff shows candidates and clients that the consultant truly understands the maritime world, adding real value to the recruitment process. In an industry where standards and certifications matter so much, a consultant’s knowledge can be a game changer. It’s more than ticking boxes, it’s about making sure the best people are in the right places to keep our waters safe and operations running smoothly. #MaritimeIndustry #OffshoreWind #CertificationMatters #Recruitment

AFTER MY JOB OFFSHORE, WHAT NEXT? It has been an interesting journey of over 2 decades having to deal with offshore manning operations. The business in this area of work has lots of peculiarities within a confirmed space and this has made it a bit difficult to integrate employees that have been on board platforms for a while into offices ashore. Most of the roles offshore have to do with underwater, rigs, production platforms i.e FPSOs, etc. and they are jobs that require detailed knowledge and skills to deliver with high expectation on safety. This means that they are confined to a particular space, doing almost same kind of jobs and maintaining a certain lifestyle for a while. We have encountered some persons that have worked offshore for a period of time and thereafter, they battle with adapting to a lifestyle of constantly staying with their families, no more 2 weeks off and on, no constant flow of salaries and various allowances that come with offshore roles, etc. Unfortunately, most persons in this category do not seem to understand the need to invest for the future and put plans in place for exit. Now the question is? What next after my job offshore? Our answer is: You are a CONSULTANT! Within an appreciable age range, following your knowledge and skills on the job, you are at a better position to advise, mentor and provide direction to projects both off and onshore within the Oil and Gas industry. There are projects that require highly skilled persons in those specific areas without increasing the headcount of the Organization. You must continually be engaged and not relax unto retirement, sign on with a project and remain relevant in the industry. Please drop a comment and your details in the comment section if you are a consultant in the industry and fit to consult. You can also send your CV to info@gopsalglobal.com #Oilandgasconsultant #careerguide #mycareerdesk

Oil & Gas Job Market: This Week's Insights (Jan 27, 2025) There is a notable surge in demand for LNG engineers as the approval process for LNG export facilities has resumed. Offshore drilling specialists are also in high demand due to new leases being opened in Alaska and along U.S. coastal waters. Additionally, pipeline project managers are sought after as the expansion of the Matterhorn Express Pipeline creates new roles. ExxonMobil is on a hiring spree for projects in Alaska, while Chevron is increasing its workforce for operations in the Gulf of Mexico. BP is expanding its natural gas division in response to a recent surge in natural gas prices. Salary trends are also looking favorable this week, with a 5% increase in compensation for offshore roles linked to new drilling permissions. Experienced LNG engineers may see signing bonuses of up to £15,000 as companies compete for talent. In terms of skills, there is a growing emphasis on Arctic drilling expertise, LNG terminal operations, and environmental impact assessments for new projects. For job seekers, it’s essential to highlight any experience related to cold weather operations when applying for Alaskan projects and to emphasize knowledge of LNG processes during interviews. Lastly, don’t miss upcoming job fairs like the Virtual Oil & Gas Career Expo on February 3-4 and the Aberdeen Offshore Opportunities Summit on February 10.
