In November 2022, I was filming this video with open mouth and never imagining that one day I’d find myself in the offshore industry. That was the turning point when I decided it was time to change my life and pursue something bigger. The journey wasn’t easy. I received mixed opinions—some colleagues told me to give up on my dream. But I stayed determined, kept searching, applying, and learning, even as rejection after rejection came in due to my lack of offshore experience. Eventually, my persistence paid off, and I got my golden ticket into the offshore sector. Today, I have nearly two years of offshore experience, working alongside incredible professionals who generously shared their knowledge and supported me every step of the way. I want to thank everyone I’ve worked with for their guidance and encouragement, and the HR managers who believed in people like me, even without direct offshore experience. For those considering a career change, don’t let fear hold you back. The offshore industry might just be waiting for you! 𝒀𝒆𝒂𝒓 3: Shared a company article showing that another office, in a different region, is executing a similar project—one that would significantly enhance my technical and offshore knowledge. 🌍 My request was noted, but once again, no steps were taken. 𝒀𝒆𝒂𝒓 4: Continued to ask for offshore exposure. ⛴️ No opportunities provided. 𝑬𝑴𝑷𝑳𝑶𝒀𝑬𝑬: I’m submitting my resignation. 📝 𝑴𝑨𝑵𝑨𝑮𝑬𝑹: You're a key part of the team! Why are you leaving? 𝑬𝑴𝑷𝑳𝑶𝒀𝑬𝑬: I’ve accepted an offer where I’ll be given immediate offshore exposure and technical challenges that align with my career goals. 🚢 A short time later... 𝑴𝑨𝑵𝑨𝑮𝑬𝑹: We can offer you those opportunities now! Please stay! 🤝 𝑬𝑴𝑷𝑳𝑶𝒀𝑬𝑬: Unfortunately, it’s too late. ⏳ Loyalty should not just be recognized; it should be nurtured and developed. 🌱 When employees consistently demonstrate commitment, leaders must create opportunities that reflect that loyalty.
