The UN is progressing towards internationally-agreed rules for autonomous driving, with globally harmonized regulations expected by mid-2026. The UNECE's World Forum for the Harmonization of Vehicle Regulations (WP.29) and its Automated/Autonomous and Connected Vehicles (GRVA) working party are spearheading these efforts. Key milestones include adopting guidelines for automated driving systems and regulations for driver control assistance systems.
