"Nothing about us without us." This isn’t just a slogan—it’s a challenge to reshape how we think about inclusion and equity. It calls for a world where people with disabilities lead the conversations that define their futures, turning inclusion into action, not just intent. Today, on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, let’s reflect on what true inclusion means: listening, learning, and breaking barriers—together. Representation matters. Engagement matters. And inclusion isn’t optional—it’s essential. How can we amplify these voices to create a future where everyone thrives?

June: LGBTQIA+ Pride Month 🏳️🌈 The month of June is a special time to celebrate LGBTQIA+ pride and reinforce the importance of diversity and inclusion in all aspects of life, especially in the workplace. This is a time to remember and honor the LGBTQIA+ community's historic fight for equal rights and dignity. It is an opportunity to reflect on how far we have come, but also recognize the path we still have to travel. Why is LGBTQIA+ pride important? Inclusion and Diversity: Diverse and inclusive environments promote innovation, creativity and better performance. Companies that value diversity have a more engaged and productive workforce. Mental Health and Wellbeing: Recognizing and celebrating diverse identities helps create spaces where everyone feels safe and valued, reducing stress and promoting mental health. Equal Opportunity: Promoting equal opportunity ensures that everyone can reach their full potential, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. Let's use this month to learn, support and act. Supporting the LGBTQIA+ community is not only an issue of social justice, but also a driving force for a more just and prosperous world for all. Together, we can build a future where everyone is free to be who they are, love who they want, and live without fear.

💬 "Disability is a matter of perception. If you can do just one thing well, you’re needed by someone." – Martina Navratilova 🔹 Have you ever questioned why so few decision-making spaces include persons with disabilities? 🚪 🔹 Take a look in your organization, how many persons with disabilities are influencing key decisions? 🗳️ 🔹 When was the last time you saw a leader with a disability contribute to shaping public policy? 🏛️ 🔹 Are persons with disabilities seen as leaders in your community or only as beneficiaries? 🌟 🔹 Are we truly inclusive if persons with disabilities aren’t shaping the leadership narrative? 🔑 It’s clear a lot has been achieved, but these questions remind us that the gap remains wide. The journey toward inclusion has only just begun. Let’s keep moving forward! 🌱 Today, on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, let’s amplify leadership. ✨ A simple start? 💬Invite diverse voices into decision-making 🤝Advocate for inclusive workplaces 🍀 Create opportunities for persons with disabilities to lead 🌈Celebrate abilities, not limitations Intentionally, let's create a future where none is left behind 🌱

I know it’s national inclusion week. I know the topic is impact matters. But have we forgotten that anxiety and trauma do not go away simply no matter how resilient the people we know may appear to be. There is much happening in the world and within the demographic that is home (home life; workplace; social and environmental context) that can be triggering in nature, yet our people may not feel able, especially during a time of economic uncertainty, to really voice how they are feeling; what the path to healing might entail. If we do nothing else, and indeed do so beyond this week, let’s remember to check in with our people, family, friends, those you lead or indeed follow, old and new acquaintances and those you have yet to formally discover. To ask how folk are is to care; to create safe spaces for listening and sharing is to care; to care creates impact beyond measure. Happy National Inclusion Week.

🌍 International Day of People with Disabilities: A Reflection I’ll admit, I wasn’t planning to post about this today. Not because it isn’t important—it absolutely is—but because the conversations we have today need to happen every single day, not just once a year. It’s great to see empowerment and awareness being raised, but what truly matters is what happens next. For many, this day can feel performative—a chance to tick the “inclusion” box without making meaningful change. Real empowerment comes when we: ✅ Share authentic experiences—not just the highlights, but the challenges too. ✅ Recognise that inclusion isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach. It’s about listening, adapting, and continuing to learn. ✅ Commit to action that leads to lasting change, not just temporary visibility. I often reflect on how easy it is to amplify voices on days like this but then let those voices fade into the background. Inclusion isn’t a moment; it’s a mindset. So, my question today isn’t just “What are we doing to celebrate this day?” It’s: What are we doing every other day of the year to make inclusion a reality? How do you ensure inclusion is part of your daily approach? Share your thoughts—I’d love to hear them. #IDPD #InclusionMatters #Neurodiversity #DisabilityInclusion #AccessibleFuture
