Let's talk about spectrum! It's the lifeblood of wireless networks, the invisible radio frequencies over which wireless signals travel to enable technologies and services like mobile device calls, satellite TV, social media check-ins, air traffic control, food deliveries, and more.
But the field of spectrum policy is lacking in diverse practitioners, and we need to expand diversity in the spectrum talent pipeline and support and elevate existing diverse voices working in spectrum policy.
Sound intriguing? Don't be afraid of the bands, the dots, the gigahertz, the cells ... learning about and working on spectrum policy is a great way to engage with the intersection of technology and law. You'll meet great people, too.
Follow the Diversity in Spectrum Council for updates on events and opportunities, and join DISC this Thursday, June 13 for a breakfast info and networking session!
(I'm posting this from the Apple store while waiting for a phone repair. Funny how important spectrum seems when you're without a mobile device and can't do something simple like map your way to an appointment or pay for Park Mobile.)
This is a reminder to join DISC this Thursday, 6/13 at 8:30AM for breakfast!
The Diversity in Spectrum Council will be hosting an informational session and networking hour focused on spectrum, open to all current DISC members and interested young professionals. Connect with the top professionals in the spectrum policy industry and learn from guest speaker Rikin Thakker, Ph.D. of NCTA - The Internet & Television Association and his presentation on everything you need to know about spectrum.
