ACT | The Alliance for Climate Transition’s Post

🌱 ACT Takes Action in Maine! As you saw from our post this morning, our President, Joe Curtatone, shared his thoughts in an op-ed about the importance of elevating Maine’s Governor’s Energy Office to a cabinet-level Department of Energy Resources. As Joe highlighted, this move is essential for aligning Maine’s energy governance with national and regional best practices, ensuring the state is well-positioned to meet its energy and climate commitments. Now, our Policy team, led by Tim Snyder and Natalie Hildt Treat, is heading to Maine to advocate for this critical change! Tim will be testifying in support of LD 1270, emphasizing how establishing the Department of Energy Resources will provide Maine with the stability, coordination, and accountability needed to meet ambitious climate goals like 100% clean electricity by 2040 and the deployment of 3 gigawatts of offshore wind. He will also be pushing for the department’s ability to conduct competitive energy procurements to secure affordable, reliable, clean energy resources. At ACT, we’re proud to have boots on the ground when it comes to fighting for clean energy policy. We’re not just talking about change—we’re actively making it happen. Special thanks to Tim for his dedication and leadership in pushing for policies that secure Maine’s clean energy future. A big thank you to everyone supporting this initiative, including Jeff Marks at CLIMATEWORK MAINE, and stay tuned for updates on our efforts to move this important legislation forward! 💪 #ClimateAction #Maine #Sustainability #LD1270
