National Broadcasting Policy-2024 Considering the reach of the broadcasting sector, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has sought Inputs for the formulation of National Broadcasting Policy-2024 by releasing the vision, mission, goals and strategies for the planned development and growth of the broadcasting sector in the country in the era of emerging technologies. With the recent release, TRAI is aiming for the following: 1. Vision - To foster a competitive, affordable and ubiquitous ecosystem. - Facilitate quality content creation, promotes democratic values and cultural diversity, enables inclusivity and literacy. - Attract investments, safeguard intellectual property, develop resilient Indigenous infrastructure, adopt emerging technologies, generate employment, and drive socio-economic development. 2. Mission and Goal - Propelling Growth: Establishing a robust broadcasting ecosystem - Promoting Content: Encouraging Indian content outreach at the global stage - Protecting Interests: Safeguarding the rights of content creators and leveraging broadcasting services to protect the socio-environmental interests of society Considering that this will regulate television and radio broadcasters, OTT service providers etc. the roadmap of the next 10 years for the growth of the broadcasting industry looks interesting. Alternatively, you may feedback to  us and we will consolidate all the comments to NBTC   We expect NBTC will formally announce around end of 2024 if there are no major objections. Based on draft technical standard, effective date will be the next date after announcement date.   Additional Information 1 Traditional FM/AM receivers (without digital (DAB) receiver) do not require approval now. And after technical standards are announced, they will not require approval, too. 2 FM/AM/DAB receivers do not require approval now. But after technical standards are announced, it will require NBTC approval. 3 For conformity assessment (Sdoc) for digital receiver, NBTC can accept test reports from oversea test lab (not require accreditation) without required samples/local testing. However, please pay attention to some Thailand only requirements such as product must support Thai Profile to display in Thai language, user’s manual shall be in Thai and English. So test report shall contain full requirements based on NBTC technical standard. all the link can find in below full announcement https://lnkd.in/g_8Yg2ZM Notes : NBTC has 2 main different departments: 4.1 Telecommunication department: This department approve class B, class A, and Sdoc for WWAN/RFID/Wifi/Bluetooth/etc. 4.2 Broadcasting department: This new notification is issued from this broadcasting department. So it becomes that if product is with Wifi/Bluetooth (telecommunication) and DAB digital radio receiver (Broadcasting), it will require 2 Sdocs 1) Sdoc from telecommunication department (for wifi/bluetooth function) and 2) Sdoc from broadcasting department (for DAB receiver function). We are pioneering the future of broadcasting with 5G technology! 🌐📺 Yesterday, a selected group of experts and journalist were able to witness the first two mobile phones receiving tv signal through 5G broadcasting. 5G Broadcast is a new terrestrial broadcast standard which is using all the benefits from DVB-T2. It is the most efficient and energy-saving method of using the frequency spectrum for television broadcasting. It can deliver multimedia content to a mobile phone without needing a connection to a mobile network or a SIM card. We have been testing 5G Broadcast since 2022, and the trials are now progressing significantly, as the first mobile phones capable of effectively receiving such broadcast content have appeared. 'We see 5G Broadcast technology as one of the future paths for terrestrial digital television broadcasting. It will enable broadcasts to be received on a mobile phone, even in areas without regular mobile network coverage, which enhances both the ability to provide information in crisis situations and, for example, allows viewers to watch TV content while travelling', says Milos Mastnik. 'At the same time, TV content will become more accessible to younger generations, who are accustomed to watching everything on their mobile screens', adds Mastník. The Ministry Of Information & Broadcasting (MIB) has referred the Direct-to-Mobile (D2M) broadcasting proposal to a committee of secretaries, including representatives from key departments. D2M technology will enable users to receive multimedia content on mobile devices without internet access, targeting primarily tier II and III cities. While Prasar Bharati is testing D2M in 19 cities, telecom companies have raised concerns about potential losses in video consumption.
