Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center (Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and Clinics), the flagship academic medical center of Dartmouth Health, received an “A” Hospital Safety Grade for Fall 2024 from The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit watchdog focused on patient safety. Leapfrog assigns grades to general hospitals across the country based on over 30 performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent them. “This recognition from The Leapfrog Group speaks to the incredible work that our people and teams do every day to ensure safe, patient-centered, timely, and equitable care to our community,” said Michael S. The 60-bed facility will provide comprehensive medical services to support the health and well-being of our Exceptional Community. It is a sad testament to the state of healthcare in New Yorks State that there are more F rates facilities in New York than anywhere else, and New York does not boast one single A rated facility. I fear the situation will only worsen especially with recent reports that there are more rural hospitals at risk of closure in New York than any other state.
