The International Labour Organization says 49.6 million people are currently victims of human trafficking. By harnessing the millions of eyes and ears of frontline security officers, helping victims of human trafficking is another way private security enhances security in society. Security professionals are often in a unique position to identify signs of human trafficking, including observing evidence of controlling or dominating relationships or adherence to scripted or rehearsed responses in social interactions, and security professionals have surveillance and counter-surveillance backgrounds that can be tapped.
