JustCo had the honour of collaborating with The Majurity Trust to design The Foundry. This meaningful project was led by our Workspace team in transforming the interior of the former Elections Department Building into a space for collective impact, where social impact organisations can collaborate, connect and build communities. Rooted in JustCo's design ethos of creating purpose-built spaces, every detail is meticulously put together to reimagine a space that feels like home for organisations to gather and collaborate. The space is imbued with a connection to place, with each area presenting a closed loop between design, people and place. From the hot-desking areas to the meeting rooms, office spaces and communal areas, every area is fit for purpose - providing organisations with access to networking opportunities and shared resources. Quoting Wan Sing KONG, founder and CEO of JustCo, in his interview with The Majurity Trust, "The three elements which are very important for The Foundry: communication, collaboration and interaction." We are excited to see what this space brings to the community! #JustCo #TheFoundry #FoundrySG #socialimpacthub #collectiveimpact Video Credit: The Majurity Trust

I had the pleasure of attending the Automatic Gathering last week and left inspired. The Forth Hotel by New City Properties, LLC & Method Co. is an instant classic, and being surrounded by such a high-caliber group was energizing. Here are a few highlights: 1. As my dad has always said, if you can create real community, success follows. Across every panel—from developers to operators to capital providers—the emphasis on the need for community was clear. In a world that feels increasingly disconnected, this focus is clearly top of mind. 2. Homegrown, Sugarcoat, and Switchyards brought invaluable insights at the intersection of capital and brick and mortar retail services. Despite vastly different business models and real estate needs, these companies' growth stories reflects the grit and vision it takes to scale brick-and-mortar businesses. At Clay Cove, we are fortunate to work with operating partners that embody this same drive and determination. 3. With retail supply at an all-time low, tenants can be choosier than ever. I heard again and again that the best partnerships between tenants and building owners are founded on candor and mutual respect for the value each party brings—we walk this talk by building true partnerships with our operating partners. 4. Jodi McLean’s of EDENS concept of "discordant harmony" as a cultural framework for teams really hit home. It’s something we’re actively building at Clay Cove as we grow our team—balancing openness, respect, and constructive challenge. 5. This ones for the locals....Atlanta needs more active, equitable collaboration between the arts and development communities. Toni Williams' panel with Atlanta's cultural icons highlighted the importance of spaces where creativity thrives and Atlanta’s culture can evolve. The Goat Farm (TriBridge Residential) event last Saturday was a perfect example—let's see more of this! Excited to bring these insights back to Clay Cove Capital, where aligning the interests of operators, investors, and communities is central to what we do. Thanks to the AUTOMATIC for such a top-notch event!

As Glastonbury 2024 hits its stride and the fields of Worthy Farm transform into the world's most amazing celebration of art and culture, it's hard not to think about what makes this festival, this gathering, and this community so magical. There it is. That word. Community. Much overused and appropriated, somewhat ironically, by big tech; its meaning reduced and flattened. This begs the question, when is a community real and when is it, in fact, something else in all but name? The inimitable Caitlin Moran says lots of brilliant things (as ever!) in her article in The Times today about the magic of Glasto. For us, a true community is about a feeling. It is about sensory experience. A vibe. It’s about choice, self-discovery, values, and ideals. It’s active, not passive - something you discover and choose as opposed to something you are born into. Often great communities (you know the ones everyone REALLY loves) develop slowly over time. Ultimately it is about people. Human beings. Last night our Chief Creative Officer, Patrick Keogh, was in conversation with Sharmadean Reid MBE about her new and rather wonderful book, NEW METHODS FOR WOMEN, at Second Home. A distillation of her wisdom and brilliance from a life at the intersection of entrepreneurship and creativity, we loved how she described communities as "playgrounds"; vibrant, joyful arenas that create the conditions for people to meet and come together and build relationships without any external interventions. That's what a true community is. Kudos to all the great convenors out there Serena O. - Founder of Fin-Erth, Emily Eavis - Co-organiser of Glastonbury, Sharmadean Reid MBE - Founder of The Stack World, and happy vibes to all the Glasto-goers, including some of our own team!
