“What legacy do you want to leave?” This is one of the above the line questions that are so much more important to determine before the below the line technical strategies and solutions get discussed. Legacy planning will replace the term “estate planning” because it starts with the passing of family values, aspirations, dreams of how to make a high impact difference in your community and world, etc. more so than leading with taxes , trusts, titling, and all things technical. The great work of the Comnunity Foundation is that it brilliantly does both… but starts with the heart.

Plan Commission approved Black Ensemble Theater Corp.’s Performing Arts Education and Media Technology Center at 4450 N. Clark St. in Uptown. The $76 million complex includes educational and performance spaces, media and commercial spaces, 53 affordable apartments and parking.

100 Seats for Misfits: Do you have your ticket? I loved how Myah described her Company: 'It's a training ground for the misfit.' A misfit is someone who does not fit easily within a particular group or environment—I’ve been a misfit all my life. What about you? A misfit is someone whose behavior or attitudes differ from the norms of the group they are in, making them stand out or sometimes feel out of place. I bet you have felt out of place at one point or another too. I don’t call myself the 'accidental banker' because I fit perfectly in this world—I am a misfit. Isn’t it great when you find a group, an organization, or a friend where being yourself is celebrated? That’s exactly what they are doing with this program. I call this kind of program a training ground for the underdog. I refer to this type of effort as 'the but for.' But for an initiative like this, people who are looking to find their way wouldn’t get the exposure that could be the tipping point directing them toward their purpose! I, for one, am all for giving people platforms and positioning them to reach the next level. I want to celebrate these ‘misfits’—will you join me? The auditorium holds 100 people—let’s pack it! Given the increasing global interest in diverse narratives and the significant growth of the African film industry, a novel film festival focused on celebrating Black American, European, and African cinema and showcasing the vibrant growth of these film industries on a global platform, called ASWAD Film Festival will hold in Dubai in January 2025. Chukwuma Jason Njoku, an African technology and entertainment entrepreneur and Aswad Film Festival Chair, expressed his enthusiasm, saying: “Aswad is not just a film festival; it’s a celebration of our stories and our culture. We aim to create a platform that amplifies Black voices in cinema while fostering connections within the industry.
