To mark Second Chance month, JPMorgan Chase & Co. has introduced a special art installation at Independence Mall in Philadelphia. Named "The Waiting Workforce," it symbolizes the obstacles faced by 1 in 3 Americans with criminal records in their pursuit of meaningful employment, even after fulfilling their obligations. It features statues made from expungement paperwork to bring to life the complex legal challenges that can hold people back from clearing their records in states yet to enact Clean Slate. The thought-provoking art installation draws attention to the real cost of keeping people who have been involved in the justice system from fully participating in the economy. At JPMorgan Chase, we're committed to advocating for change on this critical issue. Approximately 10 percent of our new employees last year were second chance hires. We’re encouraging more employers to enhance their second chance hiring, and to support common-sense policy solutions, like Clean Slate legislation. Second chances benefit families, communities, and the economy. April is Fair Chance Hiring Month. Proud to highlight Leadership Council Member JPMorgan Chase & Co.'s advocacy and business practice changes in this space. One in three Americans has a criminal record. Even after these individuals pay their debt to society, many face significant challenges finding meaningful employment. Addressing barriers to employment can help pave the way to a second chance for millions of individuals, and businesses can play a pivotal role. JPMorgan Chase & Co. has long been a vocal and visible advocate for this work. This year they commissioned an art installation at Independence Mall of 38 statues, made from the legal paperwork that serves as a barrier to people with records in states that have yet to enact Clean Slate legislation. Clean Slate creates a process to automatically clear eligible records, giving more people a second chance at opportunity. We all have an important role to play in driving change – and we are proud to partner with JPMorgan Chase & Co. all year long to make an impact in our communities. It is the annual merry-go-round of hiring (and firing) coaches and personnel in the NFL. Seeing people rehired by former employers after taking a shot elsewhere is a good reminder that you never know how life will play out, despite best of plans. Whether you are leaving a job, or someone is leaving your team, never burn bridges, be professional. Some day your paths may cross again. And if you're interviewing at a firm, don't be afraid to ask if the firm has welcomed back people who left in the past. #law #professionalism #foodforthought

Law firms are working at full speed, and hiring can feel like a time drain when you’re wading through hundreds of applications. Especially when most don’t hit the mark. Solution? Get selective right from the start. Define the must-have skills, experiences, and values for the role. Zero in on candidates who are more than just qualified; they’re primed for your firm’s culture. Using skill-matching software and data-driven insights isn’t just efficient—it’s a strategic edge. You’re not just filling a seat; you’re investing in a valuable, lasting fit. Focusing on candidates with the right expertise upfront means you spend less time sorting through mismatches. That’s more time for your team to connect with serious contenders. And those are the hires that stick, thrive, and elevate your firm’s work.
