A new pilot program aims to transform access to healthcare for Smith Island, a boat-access-only community. Working with a commercial drone company, The University of Maryland’s (UMD) UAS Research and Operations Center (UROC) will oversee vital medical deliveries by air at the southern end of the Eastern Shore. This paper explores the critical intersection of international law, aviation, and emerging technologies, focusing on the regulatory frameworks governing unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in international airspace.
