I believe in honesty and transparency. That’s how we learn and connect. Last week, I had several opportunities to share my experience in the startup world. I met with three young startups. I honestly shared my experience with everyone. Three coffees, four founders. Hugs at the end ❤️ I believe the hardest thing is to stay consistent, maintain your integrity, not get discouraged when things don’t go well, but understand why and keep going.(keep going on repeat😎) I’m thinking of creating a support circle where we could meet regularly. As an early-stage investor, I’ve always bet on the team first. A startup’s success hinges on leadership's vision, drive, resilience, and collaboration - both internally and with stakeholders. The #genai boom has unleashed a new wave of startups, many showcased at #ILTACON this week. Some will thrive, others will vanish, but all depend on these key traits. This isn’t just true for startups; it’s the same for any small business up against big, well-funded competitors with hype machines and entertainment budgets. Being bigger doesn't mean being better, but it does make it easier to drown out the little guys. After talking to many firms and legal tech buyers this week, it struck me that they face a similar choice as investors: play it safe with a big name, or take a chance on an upstart that might better meet their needs and be a better partner? If I were in their shoes, I’d bet on the team when all else is equal. Or even "close enough". Can I collaborate with them? Will they be responsive? Do they bring the expertise to enhance and accelerate my efforts? It's not just about installing software; it’s about creating value and solving meaningful problems. And that’s easier and less risky with the right partner. Don't discount the small, hungry partners that will stick with you through thick and thin! #legaltech #startups #buylocal

My bedroom is where I'm creating my startup, Salesmaa. I know... But this is the reality of building a tech venture.
