One of the most beautiful aspects of pregnancy is the connection you share with your baby—even before they’re born! I often receive this question: 🎵 When does a baby in the womb start to hear the sound? 🎵 Did you know your baby’s sense of hearing starts developing as early as 16 weeks of pregnancy? ✨ By the 16th–18th week, they can pick up low-pitch sounds and vibrations. ✨ By the 24th–26th week, they begin to clarify and understand sounds. ✨ By the 30th week, your baby actively listens and responds to the world around them! Every word, every emotion, every sound matters. This is why starting Garbha Samvad (talking to your baby) and Garba Sanskar practices early in pregnancy is so impactful. Your words, love, and positivity help nurture your baby's emotional intelligence and mental well-being. 🌟 When Should I Start Garbha Samvad? The answer is simple: as soon as you know you’re pregnant! But it becomes especially important from 16 weeks onward when their hearing develops. How to do this? Share affirmations, sing songs, chant mantras, or talk about your day—it’s all about creating a connection that nurtures your baby’s heart and mind. ✨ #Imaginethis: When your baby is born, they will recognize your voice, feel your love, and remember the amazing experience in the womb, attuned to the positive energy you’ve shared. 💫 Let’s Create This Magic Together! 💫 Through Garba Sanskar Yoga and mindful practices, you can make pregnancy not just a phase but a transformative journey—for you and your baby. Are you ready to start this beautiful journey? 🌸 💬 Let’s connect, or DM me to join my prenatal yoga sessions! #GarbaSanskar #GarbhaSamvad #PregnancyWellness #PrenatalYoga #MindfulMotherhood #PositiveParenting

Let’s Clear Up Some Common Myths About Exercise During Pregnancy! 🤰🏻 We know there are a lot of questions about exercise during pregnancy, so let’s clear up some confusion. 1️⃣ Exercise can harm the baby Actually, exercise is great for both you and the baby! When done in moderation, it helps with circulation, reduces stress, and keeps things running smoothly. 2️⃣ Pregnant women should rest entirely Not true! While resting is important, complete rest isn’t necessary for most pregnancies. Gentle exercises like walking or yoga can help reduce swelling, ease back pain, and make your body stronger for childbirth. 3️⃣ Exercise causes complications during delivery In fact, regular exercise makes our muscles stronger, and can help make delivery smoother and recovery quicker. Plus, it can improve stamina, which will be helpful during labour. 4️⃣ No abdominal exercises during pregnancy We can still do abdominal exercises - just the right ones! Gentle, modified core exercises help ease back pain and support our growing bump. Always check with a healthcare provider to pick the best ones for you. Remember, exercise is a tool to empower and support a healthy pregnancy - not a risk factor! Always check with your doctor before starting or modifying any fitness routine. Your health and the baby’s well-being are always a top priority! #ParthSurgicalCentre #PregnancyExercise #HealthyPregnancy #PrenatalFitness #PregnancyWellness

Antenatal Yoga: 2 weeks ago I visited the pregnancy yoga class @Kin where the Mums enjoy mindful movement I asked the Mothers there “What have you heard about breastfeeding”? “What have you read”? “What did your friends tell you”? As a lactation consultant, I wish I could share tips with every parent during pregnancy. Many breastfeeding challenges could be avoided with the right support and information early on. 🌟Babies feed best when calm & stable. Lie your baby on your chest and allow them to find the way to the breast - many babies can manage this without help. 🌟Look into expressions colostrum from 37 weeks to prepare for any early challenges. Don’t stress about volumes - just learn the skills. 🌟Second Night Syndrome: It's normal for newborns to be fussy on the second night. Keep them close and feed often. 🌟Forget Foremilk & Hindmilk: Let your baby feed until satisfied; switch sides as needed without worrying too much about how long they stay on the breast. 🌟The Three 'Keeps': When the breastfeeding journey feels derailed, Keep your baby close, fed, and your milk flowing to overcome early hurdles. For more support, check out my antenatal breastfeeding sessions. Let's make your breastfeeding journey smoother! 🌟 #BreastfeedingTips #NewParents #LactationConsultant #BabyThrive #ibclc #liquidgold

It's all optional ✨️ You don't actually have to do anything, if it doesn't feel right for you and your baby 🌸 Just because it's common and normalised, doesn't mean it's mandatory, and just because it's your first baby doesnt mean you dont get to make those judgement calls 🌱 Some normalised things that I noped out of during my first pregnancy, birth, postpartum and motherhood are: - vaginal exams - your cervix is not a crystal ball and vaginal exams are not shown to improve outcomes. - getting in a car/going to the hospital while in active labour - you don't actually HAVE to go anywhere in labour unless you want to. I couldn't think of anything worse, I barely got in a car at all my last week of pregnancy! - swaddling - I see it as a modern day trend that sometimes benefits parents but has no proven benefits for bub, so we skipped the swaddle. - cry it out/sleep training - again, a modern day trend that is more about the parents than the baby. It's not necessary to train your baby to sleep, they will all sleep without support eventually! - putting baby in their own room - mammals coregulate; corregulation requires closeness; therefore I chose to keep my baby close. - pumping & bottle feeding - a useful tool for some, but in my opinion, way too normalised when it's not actually necessary, so I chose not to spend extra time and money on something that wasn't actually needed. - going back to work & putting my baby in daycare - again, a useful tool for some, but not something that aligns with my values - just because it's common, doesn't mean you automatically have to subscribe to it if it doesn't feel right! *obviously there will be exceptions with all of these. I am only speaking from my lived experience. My intention with this post is to raise awareness about things that are common but not necessarily normal so that you can make a fully informed decision about what's right for your family 🤗

The last few weeks of pregnancy can feel like an eternity. Don't worry, I've got you covered with some ways to stay distracted after 37 weeks! 👉🏻 Hey! I'm Trish ❤, or @labor.nurse.mama, the only birth class that comes with a nurse coaching you- comment #CLASS❤️ Here are some ideas to keep you occupied as you wait for your little one to arrive: Get some exercise 🤸♀️: Staying active can help you feel more energized and less stressed. Go for a walk, take a prenatal yoga class, or try swimming to stay active and relieve some tension. I know, sounds easier said than done at this stage, but keep in mind that it will help baby move down into the pelvis and get ready for birth. Learn a new skill 🤓: Have you always wanted to learn how to knit, cook a new dish, or play an instrument? Now is the perfect time to pick up a new skill and keep your mind engaged. It’s also a great time to get into meal prepping and prep meals for after the baby is here so you don’t have to worry about it during the first few weeks of postpartum. Spend time with loved ones 🤗: Surround yourself with the people you love and who make you feel good. Spend time with your partner, family, and friends to stay connected and ease any nerves. This can be a great time for a local babymoon if you haven’t taken one yet. Practice relaxation techniques 🧘♀️: Take some time for yourself and practice relaxation techniques like deep breathing, meditation, or visualization to help you feel calm and centered. It’s also a great time to practice your breathing and prepare for birth too! Prepare for baby 🍼: Use this time to get organized and prepare for your baby's arrival. Set up the nursery, wash baby clothes, and pack your hospital bag so you'll feel ready when the time comes. Remember, every pregnancy is different, so don't put too much pressure on yourself to be productive all the time. Rest when you need to, and take care of yourself and your growing baby. You're almost there! 🙌❤️ How are you passing the time until baby arrives?
