National Paediatric Transplant Awareness Week - April 21 to 27, 2024 Organ donation is a lifeline for children awaiting transplants. Unlike adults, who might receive organs from deceased adults, kids often need organs closer to their size. This makes pediatric donors, both living (like a sibling) and deceased, especially precious. However, in several cases, adult organs can also help a child in need. Each donation offers a chance for a sick child to experience a healthy life, making it a gift beyond measure. #paediatrics #PaediatricTransplant #nationalpaediatrictransplantawarenessweek #PaediatricClinic #KidsHealth #hospital #multispecialityhospital #chennai

Three Carle Health hospitals have been honored at the federal level for organ donation awareness initiatives.💜 Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Carle Health Methodist Hospital in Peoria and Carle BroMenn Medical Center in Normal received 2023-2024 U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) DoNation campaign recognition. DoNation is a nationwide HRSA initiative to educate communities about the need for organ, eye and tissue donation and to encourage people to register to be organ and tissue donors. More than 100,000 Americans are awaiting lifesaving transplants, according to the Gift of Hope Organ and Tissue Donor Network. “We have worked diligently to create an interdisciplinary approach to the donation process. This includes a team of direct care staff and leaders from across the organization who are, in some way, touched by donations. Those involved share stories of impact, discuss donation data and case reviews, and plan Gift of Hope awareness activities. In addition, a beautiful Tree of Life is in the lobby of CFH, with each leaf engraved in honor of an organ donor.” -Dana Ziegler, MSN, NEA-BC, director of nursing – ICU and surgical services for Carle Foundation Hospital More on the recognition, plus how to become an organ donor in our Newsroom: https://lnkd.in/gnWEuhe7 #DonateLife #GiftOfHope #SayYesToDonation

Dear Friends, I wanted to share an update with you on a cause that is deeply important to our family. Thanks to your unwavering support, Cure JM is at the forefront of improving juvenile myositis care and research. Becuase of your generosity, we've made significant strides and have: Slashed diagnosis time by 75%, from 12 months to just 3 months. Care and outcomes have improved through our clinician education programs and Cure JM’s Clinical Care Network. New treatments are on the horizon thanks to ongoing research and partnerships. Supported families navigating juvenile myositis with the essential resources, guidance, and tools they need. However, even with better treatments, many children still face a lifetime of relying on harsh medications. While these drugs are life-saving, they often mean missed school days, limited activities, and difficult side effects—including stunted growth, bone damage, and vision impairment. Our children deserve better, and we are committed to finding a way forward. Now, for the exciting news! With your continued support, we are preparing to launch a groundbreaking clinical trial for a new pill that shows promise in reducing the need for steroids and chemotherapy. And even more exciting, we are advancing a revolutionary treatment called CAR-T therapy—an immune system reset that has the potential to revolutionize JM treatment. Because of you, hope is truly on the horizon. We are also ensuring that children and young adults receive the best care by: Offering educational resources to families and doctors. Hosting quarterly training sessions for physicians on the latest advancements in JM care. Providing funding to Cure JM’s Clinical Care Network at 33 leading children's hospitals, ensuring access to top-tier care close to home. As with most rare diseases, progress is only possible because of the dedication and generosity of friends, family, and supporters like you. We are deeply grateful for the village of people who care. Thank you for being an essential part of our team and continuing to fuel hope for a cure. 🩸 My First Blood Donation: A Life-Changing Experience 🩸 Today, I did something I’ve wanted to do for a long time but have always been a bit scared to go through with it: I donated blood for the first time. It's quite emotional knowing that something as simple as a donation could make such a huge difference in someone's life. By donating just one pint, I have potentially helped multiple people. My blood will be tested for neonatal suitability and, if it turns out it fits the bill, my donation could save the lives of six premature babies. Six tiny human beings—how amazing is that? I’ll be honest, I was scared. I’ve always been weird around needles and the idea of blood being taken makes me feel unwell. As a child though, I always went with my dad when he donated blood so I knew it was an incredibly important thing to do (and I knew about the biscuits). I decided today was the day to face my fear and give something back. That’s a good way to start a new year, isn’t it? The process was smooth, the Welsh Blood Service team was incredibly friendly and supportive, and the best part is that it only took a small amount of time from my day. Don’t go to the gym today, they said. Eat chocolate instead, they said. Okay, I said. I’ll definitely do this again. Blood donations are critical for patients undergoing surgeries, trauma victims and those with chronic health conditions. Every donation counts and the need for blood is constant. If you haven’t donated before, I encourage you to consider it. Even if you’re a bit worried about how it might feel: the needle in the arm bit only lasted 5 or 10 minutes. Not only does this minor act provide life-saving help to those in need, but it’s also a reminder of how we can all contribute to helping others - one small gesture at a time. Let's #GiveBlood and #SaveLives Welsh Blood Service Give Blood Save Life NHS Blood and Transplant #DonateBlood #FirstDonation #LifeSaving #MakeADifference #GiveBack

Congenital heart disease (CHD) affects millions of children worldwide, with many facing life-threatening conditions that require immediate surgery. For those born with CHD, access to specialized care is often limited, especially in underserved regions. This is where our mission at Gift of Life International comes in. We provide life-saving heart surgeries to children 14 and under, born with CHD, and train local medical professionals in these areas so they can continue the care long after we leave. This sustainable approach ensures that local hospitals are equipped to manage these critical cases independently, ultimately improving long-term outcomes for the children we serve. In many parts of the world, a simple surgery can make the difference between life and death. However, the need is far greater than what current resources can provide. This is why your support is so vital. Thanks to our dedicated network of global partners, we are able to fund these missions and make a significant difference in the lives of children around the world. Join us in the fight against congenital heart disease. Together, we can give children the healthy future they deserve. #CongenitalHeartDisease #PediatricHeartSurgery #GlobalHealth #LifeSavingCare #HeartHealth #Healthcare #Donate #NonProfit #Sustainability #ChangeMakers #GlobalImpact

PSA - Donate extra breastmilk! 🍼 Today is my child's first day of daycare, and we sent him with a few bottles of expressed breastmilk. Due to a variety of factors, we had (and still have) more milk from pumping sessions than he drinks, leading to us choosing to donate about 150oz of milk earlier this year and still have plenty in the freezer for emergencies and to send to daycare. If you find yourself in a similar situation, or for any other reasons have frozen breastmilk less than a year old that you no longer need, please consider donation. Donating breastmilk to organizations like Mother's Milk Bank (https://lnkd.in/g2Pg-ccP) is extremely easy, and incredibly impactful. Donated milk can be used in several circumstances in the hospital (1oz of donated milk can feed a preemie in the NICU for an entire day!),and my personal experience in the hospital included needing to supplement with some donor milk due to nursing being too painful. We needed some donor milk to bridge the gap until we were able to work with lactation consultants** (IBCLCs) to get to a more manageable, an eventually a wonderful, breastfeeding journey. **Additional PSA for IBCLCs - Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultants are available for covered visits under the ACA, and I cannot recommend enough taking advantage of this. Mine were able to help me navigate intense pain, mastitis, and the emotional toll of breastfeeding.

We have come so far since TSC Alliance was founded 50 years ago. However, we still have a long way to go, and it is critical that we keep funding research to answer questions about how TSC affects adults across the lifespan. Join me in supporting the TSC Alliance as we enter the next 50 years. #50Forward #HopeNoMatterHowComplex
For 50 years, the TSC Alliance® has been advancing research and has invested more than $37 million to improve the lives of those affected by tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC). Through collaboration, we’re developing new treatments, growing the world’s largest TSC Natural History Database, building a Biosample Repository, and supporting a newborn screening test for earlier diagnosis. Whether it's a child who desperately needs seizure control, a teen grappling with the effects of TSC-Associated Neuropsychiatric Disorders (TAND), or an adult navigating reproductive and perinatal health, many TSC families and individuals are still in dire need of answers. We’re committed to filling these gaps. Donate today and together we can create a future where everyone affected by tuberous sclerosis complex has what they need to live their fullest lives! This time of the year is always particularly special for Pampers, as we’ve recently launched our global campaign to support premature babies and their families. This initiative started over 20 years ago when our Pampers researchers, in collaboration with more than 800 neonatal nurses and pediatricians, developed our smallest diapers, tailored to meet the unique needs of those little ones born before they’re strong enough to leave the hospital. It’s incredible to see how tiny these diapers are, and I truly admire the resilience of these little fighters. Every year, I am so proud to see the impact of our actions across Europe and beyond. We partner closely with NGOs and healthcare professionals to make sure we provide the right support to the families navigating the journey of prematurity. Through product donations, awareness initiatives and collaboration with hospitals and experts, our teams in Europe are making a meaningful difference with incredible passion and dedication. This year, they’ve gone above and beyond, launching impactful initiatives such as a powerful solidarity chain in France, an emotional partnership with a mom of a preemie in the UK or a donation marathon in Germany. These efforts show how relevant and important this initiative remains still today to support the 13 million babies who are born premature each year worldwide. Our commitment to preemie babies extends year-round, but I wanted to take a moment to shine a special light on this initiative that is so close to my heart. This is what makes Pampers so much more than a diaper. Most importantly, this is really how together, we keep making EVERY baby’s world better 🩵 #WorldPrematurityDay #PampersforPreemies #Prematurity
