Working in hospitality for 25 years proved to me many things and the opportunity to do a marketing type role this summer has given me new lens to peer through. So many humans discount the value of pleasing others through the act of service, be it housekeeping, concierge, front desk, host, server, cook and middle manager. The biggest stance I can see is one of not wanting subservience to others. The fact of the matter is that it's a actually a selfish act, not the reverse. To be in the face of the public repeatedly in a manner that requires poise and control stimulates the brain to perform corrective measures as we learn to do our jobs better. Eventually, the image factor, and all the intricacies at play to execute a public function and look the part is effortless because we have programming down. Evolving as a young adult can take the path of many options, and the industry of hospitality has an endless amount of potential for learning and growth. #careerchange #career #choosingcareers #hospitality #service

When pursuing a career in hotel management, it's important to start at the bottom and work your way up. This means that you should begin by looking for entry level jobs in hospitality, such as housekeeping or front desk positions. These positions will allow you to gain valuable experience and develop the skills you need for a successful career in hotel management. Why from the bottom? This is because important and much needed soft skills, such as time management, adaptability and teamwork, are developed during your formative years and professional life beyond. That’s adorable, but we’re looking for someone who has mastered the art of adjusting the angle of a pillow just so. 🛏️✨ Next up, education. You might have a degree in Hospitality Management, but did you attend the top 0.01% of hospitality schools? 🎓 If your school doesn't have "prestige" dripping from its walls, well, we might have a lovely concierge position opening in about ten years. 😂 And let’s not forget the all-important pedigree. 🐶 If your family hasn’t been in the luxury hotel business for at least five generations, we’re afraid you just won’t fit in with our legacy staff. 👵👩👧👶👶 No family legacy? Tough break! We prefer our employees to have grown up discussing pillow menus over breakfast. 🥐 Then there's the experience. Have you spent years perfecting the art of guest satisfaction? That’s nice, but we’re really looking for someone who has catered to royalty, celebrities, and maybe a unicorn or two. 🦄👑 Your guests were satisfied?
