It's been two weeks since i started my Butler cross exposure training, i believe taking these trainings makes you a better service professional because you will make decisions from an informed point of view. Being a butler is like being the whole Hotel, you are a boutique of services that the guest can enjoy, whether it's food service, wine selection, shoe shining, room cleaning, packing and unpacking, scheduling appointments or travel arrangements and so many more, they are all a text or call a way and sometimes delivered unexpectedly with passion. In the two weeks so far i have been training, i have seen myself in a position where I'm rich with ideas and knowledge that will assist me in day to day efficient execution of my tasks which is so crucial today in the ever changing and demanding hospitality industry. In my career so far i have worked as a waiter, Receptionist and now as a housekeeping Order Taker/ Coordinator, adding Butler knowledge/ experience move me closer to a complete all round hotelier. #We #need #to #save #the #entertainment #department Currently, the entire hotel sector is facing a significant labor shortage, whether in the kitchen, in the restaurant or even in the housekeeping. Whereas in these areas, even if you don't have experience, you can be train and coach, but for the entertainment department, it's not about training, whether you have it in your blood or not. I have seen many hotels keep posting entertainment vacancies every month, but in vain. The actual situation that demonstrates why we do not have entertainers on the market is very simple, it's not a question of salary, firstly it's because in hotels some people still have this bad perception of the real usefulness of the entertainer, seeing them playing and laughing with the guests all day long, so they kept persecute entertainers morally and kept gossiping behind their backs. Secondly facts demonstrates that entertainers don't have the opportunity to grow or have to wait for long time to get promoted, whenever there is an opening in their respective hotel, they will see other people from outside who will come for the position and last, but the most important reason especially for this scope of work, entertainers need to be lead by someone with a leader's mentality and not one with a manager'suit. #Reality #Consiousness #Change #Mindset

Extraordinary talent is hard to come by, but if you pay attention, you can spot it a mile away. Last week at Vacation Rental Management Association (VRMA), I was having a drink with some friends at the Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts lobby bar, and the bartender really stood out to me. I noticed how immaculately he did his job, engaging with customers, preparing drinks perfectly and just the way he held himself. He was a pro. And then the unthinkable happened. Across the bar, a man had a seizure and needed immediate medical attention. The bartender sprung into action without hesitation, taking over the situation with urgency, but still remaining totally calm. His lack of fear and intense professionalism is what stood out to me. While the patrons seemed unsure of what to do, the bartender seamlessly took charge and attended to this obvious emergency situation. That to me is an extraordinary employee. Someone who not only can do their “job,” but can also react to the unexpected and go above and beyond whenever the need arises. If I was hiring a bartender, I would have offered him a job on the spot! In hindsight, this incident just reminded me how rare and special talent can be found in the most unexpected places.
