When Data Met Assumptions One day, I was working on a project, confidently thinking I had everything figured out. The requirements were clear, the timelines were set, and I knew what the client needed. Or so I thought. Then the data walked in, like a character in a plot twist. The numbers whispered, “Think again!” Turns out, what I assumed was the issue was miles away from the real problem. We re-analyzed, adjusted the strategy, and voila— the project aligned perfectly. Moral of the story? As a Business Analyst, assumptions might knock on the door, but data is always the guest of honor! Ever had a time when data surprised you? The Most Underrated Question Every Business Analyst Should Ask! When working with stakeholders, I’ve learned that asking the right questions can make all the difference. But there’s one question that’s often overlooked and it is: “What problem are we really trying to solve?” Why is this question so powerful? - It challenges assumptions and reveals the true business need. - It prevents teams from jumping to solutions too quickly. - It ensures we focus on delivering value—not just ticking boxes. As a real example, during one of my projects, a stakeholder insisted on building a complex dashboard with dozens of metrics. Instead of diving into the details, I paused and asked, “What decision are you trying to make with this data?” The answer surprised me. They only needed three key metrics to identify performance gaps. I give him alternative business solution instead of focusing on the technical side/feasibility. By refocusing the scope, we saved time, reduced costs, and delivered exactly what they needed. Asking the right questions is the foundation of effective business analysis. Don’t just gather requirements—dig deeper to uncover the why. #BusinessAnalyst

In the Old Lies the New: A Business Analyst’s Perspective As business analysts, we’re uniquely positioned at the intersection of the old and the new. Our role requires us to look deeply at established processes, systems, and data—learning from what has worked before—to create solutions that drive future growth and agility. "In the old lies the new" is a guiding principle in our work. Every legacy system, historical data point, and established process contains insights that, when reimagined, can spark innovation. Whether it’s finding efficiencies in existing workflows, leveraging historical data to predict future trends, or modernizing legacy systems with contemporary tools, the past serves as both a foundation and a launchpad. Our work is about more than gathering requirements; it’s about finding the hidden potential in what already exists and uncovering paths to new possibilities. The most effective business analysis balances respect for proven practices with an eye toward what could be better. As we move forward in our projects, let’s remember that often the best solutions are not found by discarding the old but by building upon it. The future of business analysis isn’t about erasing the past, it’s about transforming it. #BusinessAnalysis #Innovation #ContinuousImprovement #Transformation

I got into business analysis because, honestly, I love playing detective, but without the trench coat and magnifying glass. There's something thrilling about uncovering gaps, solving puzzles, and connecting dots to make things run smoothly. I’ve always been the one asking, “Why are we doing it this way?” (even when people didn’t want to hear it). Business Analysis lets me turn my curiosity into something useful by working with teams to help businesses achieve their goals. From documenting and communicating requirements clearly to meeting business goals. A Business Analyst is the real change agent, and we got two sides. We speak the business language fluently, and if you need some technical expertise, we are not standing at the back. Plus, it’s a great way to justify my love for creating endless charts and diagrams! #30dayslinkedinchallenge #BusinessAnalysis #Technology #Data

It leads to solutions that are more effective, more aligned with business goals, and ultimately more valuable.
