CRETUS, Cross-disciplinary Research in Environmental Technologies’ Post

The researcher Almudena Hospido has been invited as keynote speaker at the 6th edition of the #IWA Resource Recovery Conference (IWA RR 2025), which will be hosted in Leeuwarden (the Netherlands). Almudena will give a conference talk on the importance of life cycle-based tools in shaping the future of resource recovery, with a focus on #prospectiveLCA for evaluating emerging technologies. The presence of CRETUS in this international event will be significant since up to 7 members, among professors, and pre and post-doctoral researchers, will give oral and poster presentations and 1 has been invited to moderate also a session on industrial water. Almudena is a full professor full Professor and member of CRETUS, Cross-disciplinary Research in Environmental Technologies at the Universidad de Santiago de Compostela, specializing in life cycle-based decision-making tools for various sectors. Almudena will highlight the importance of life cycle-based tools in shaping the future of resource recovery, with a focus on prospective LCA for evaluating emerging technologies. She will discuss how combining LCA with material flow analysis (MFA) can address data gaps, uncertainty, and competition effects. Additionally, she will present several European initiatives working to harmonize metrics for high-quality, industrially relevant assessments, particularly in carbon recycling.
