Introducing Our Keynote Speakers: Hao-Yi Cheng We are thrilled to announce Hao-Yi, a leading expert in environmental engineering with a specialization in sustainable wastewater treatment technologies, as a keynote speaker. As a full professor at the Harbin Institute of Technology, Shenzhen , his research centers on the development of innovative solutions that enable low carbon emissions and facilitate resource recovery. Hao-Yi has a strong track record of translating academic research into practical applications, with several technologies successfully commercialized. A notable example is #SADeN® (Sulfur-based Autotrophic Denitrification), a proprietary technology for element sulfur-based denitrification, which has been deployed in over 30 large-scale wastewater treatment plants throughout China. We are looking forward to Hao-Yi sharing his expertise! It is our great pleasure to welcome you all to the 6th edition of the IWA Resource Recovery Conference, which will be hosted in Leeuwarden (The Netherlands), the capital of water technology. This event is organized by Wetsus in collaboration with Delft University of Technology and Wageningen University and Research. With this conference, we want to showcase and celebrate the experiences, lessons and results of more than 15 years of experimenting and upscaling of resource recovery around the world. Now it is time to transform these from concepts to business examples. Join us from 19-23 May 2025 in Leeuwarden!

Initiated by Allied Waters and AquaMinerals B.V., the award celebrates these practices and encourages their adoption in the water industry. Introducing Our Keynote Speakers: Dimitris Xevgenos We are excited to welcome Dimitris, an expert in circular water systems, as a keynote speaker at the IWARR2025. Dimitris is Assistant Professor in Circular Water Systems & Sustainability at the TU Delft | Technology, Policy and Management Faculty. Over the past 12 years of his research career, he has focused on designing and developing cutting-edge technologies for circular water economy solutions, as well as delivering these innovations to the market to create real-world impact. Currently, he serves as the Executive Coordinator of the WATER-MINING H2020 project, titled "Next Generation Water-Smart Management Systems: Large-Scale Demonstrations for a Circular Economy and Society." His work’s impact on the EU’s natural environment, as well as its contributions to job creation and green growth, was recognized by the EU Commissioner in May 2017 with the Green Award. Dimitris has initiated and prepared several successful research proposals, securing approximately 40 million euros through highly competitive LIFE and H2020 funding calls. We’re excited to hear Dimitris’s perspective!
