BALLISTIC BALLERS CIC is another incredible organisation we’re especially proud to spotlight this Black History Month, as they truly embody the theme of Reclaiming Narratives. BALLISTIC BALLERS CIC empowers young Black boys across London to take control of their futures, bridging the gap between football and life skills to build confidence, resilience, and independence. BALLISTIC BALLERS CIC is redefining what it means to be successful both on and off the field. By combining football with critical life skills like money management and financial literacy, they are addressing a crucial gap that many young players face preparing for life beyond the game. Through their programmes, BALLISTIC BALLERS CIC enables young people not only to excel in football but to build resilience and independence that extends into every area of life. Their mission aligns beautifully with Reclaiming Narratives, a call to action for Black communities to seize ownership of our stories and take pride in our legacy. For too long, our histories have been told by others, often leaving out the richness and depth of our experiences. BALLISTIC BALLERS CIC is changing that by creating spaces where young people can envision their futures, connect with mentors, and cultivate their unique stories. As Black History Month draws to a close, let’s keep the momentum going. BALLISTIC BALLERS CIC work reminds us that reclaiming our narrative is an ongoing journey. #ReclaimingNarratives| #EmpowerOurYouth| #FinancialLiteracyMatters| #BeyondThePitch| #BuildingFutures| #InspiringChange| #BallisticBallers| #GameChanger| #SportsForChange #OwnYourStory #YouthMentorship

Meet Trent Petty, a second-grade teacher at Wister Elementary and one of Mastery’s representatives at #BMEC2024! At the conference, Trent shared some powerful advice for educators: teaching is a mission of delayed gratification. While the results of your efforts might not appear immediately, the long-term impact on the lives of Black and brown children is transformative. He also reminded us of the importance of community: “You’re not alone. Lean on others in the field who share your experiences and stay committed to the mission.” Thank you to the Center for Black Educator Development for hosting this convening and creating a space to connect, grow, and inspire the next generation of Black male educators.

As a Black-Canadian legal professional, this conversation, and the attached post, really resonated with me. The conversation highlights the importance of mentor/mentee relationships in the workplace. I can’t underscore how important it is to have someone in your corner who has your back, and will give it to you directly when it’s necessary. If you’re a new/junior lawyer, seek out a law firm “O.G”. Work on your own? Don’t be afraid to reach out to that senior opposing counsel that gave you a run for your money, but that you respected in the process. Invite them for coffee or lunch. Build a relationship. Law, as a practice, is a tough business, but you don’t have to navigate it on your own.

This is exactly how the workplace’ Black OGs give game to the youngers on how to survive toxic work environments especially after being gaslit by management. Not every Black person gets the chance to work with a more senior Black person that will keep it 100 with them and knows how to do it properly. I have and if you had the Black Mentors that I’ve had. You know exactly how amazing they are. Shoutouts to the Black people that allow people to have access to their mentorship, especially when we got that cold introduction to Office politics with the underlying anti-Blackness to it. This is a Black mentorship stan account. Sidenote: Every time I see Pharrell, I hear the Grindin beat in my head and fight the urge to tap the beat on the nearest table.

Preserving Black Excellence Through Business and Education Atlantic Beach, often called the "Black Pearl," stands as a historical safe haven for Black people, reminding us of the power of community, resilience, and innovation. This story highlights the importance of maintaining spaces that honor our legacy while fostering opportunities for future generations. At the HBCU Business Deans Roundtable, we recognize the pivotal role HBCU business schools play in empowering students to lead economic and social change. By cultivating the next generation of entrepreneurs and leaders, we ensure that spaces like Atlantic Beach not only survive but thrive through intentional investments and business strategy. Let's continue to bridge our rich history with a future of economic empowerment. Together, we can create safe havens of opportunity for generations to come. #HBCUBusiness #EconomicEmpowerment #BlackExcellence #CommunityBuilding #BusinessEducation View the original article here: https://lnkd.in/gtnpFGY5
