In December, we had the joy of "Adopting a Classroom" and surprising a kindergarten class of students that have disabilities with sensory toys! 🎁 They loved the gifts, and it helped them to be more focused in the classroom. The class showed their gratitude by creating a custom sign and heartfelt thank-you card for us. A huge thank you to South 17th Street School—we absolutely adore your thoughtful gifts! ✨ #CommunityLove #AdoptAClassroom #IDD #KidsWithDisabilities

Playtime is not just fun—it's a cornerstone of early childhood education! 🎨🧩 Early childhood is a critical time for developing a strong foundation in cognitive skills, and play is a powerful tool in this process. Through play, children like Kushagra learn to think logically, solve problems, and make sense of the world around them. Let’s advocate for more play in early learning settings to unlock our children's potential and equip them with skills that last a lifetime! What are your thoughts on the role of play in learning? At Bumblebee Learning Care, we believe in the power of play to ignite creativity and foster development in young children. Open-ended play, where children are free to explore and create without predefined rules or outcomes, is particularly beneficial. Let’s dive into why open-ended play is so crucial for early childhood development. Why Open-Ended Play Matters? Open-ended play encourages children to use their imagination and think creatively. With no specific goals, children can invent their own games and scenarios, which fosters cognitive flexibility and problem-solving skills. This type of play also supports social development as children learn to negotiate roles and collaborate with peers. Creating an Environment for Open-Ended Play At Bumblebee Learning Care, we provide a variety of materials such as building blocks, art supplies, and dress-up costumes to stimulate open-ended play. These resources allow children to construct their own worlds and stories. Parents can support this at home by offering materials like cardboard boxes, fabric scraps, and everyday household items for play. Examples of Open-Ended Activities 1. Building and Construction: Using blocks or recycled materials to create structures. 2. Art Projects: Providing paints, markers, and clay without specific instructions. 3. Role-Playing: Encouraging children to dress up and act out different scenarios. Conclusion: Open-ended play is a cornerstone of our philosophy at Bumblebee Learning Care. By nurturing creativity and problem-solving skills through play, we help children develop the foundational skills they need for lifelong learning. #EarlyChildhoodEducation #OpenEndedPlay #ChildDevelopment #CreativeKids #BumblebeeDayCare

Sometimes, we need to take a closer look at the school system to understand why our young boys often struggle to adapt. Boys are naturally energetic, curious, and hands-on learners. They thrive in environments where they can explore, move, and engage in active play. Research shows that their brains actually function better when their bodies are active. Traditional classroom settings often require prolonged periods of sitting still and focusing quietly, which can be particularly challenging for boys. It’s important to seek out schools that recognize and accommodate the unique learning styles of young boys. Schools that incorporate physical activity, interactive learning, and opportunities for exploration can make a significant difference in their educational experience. When such schools aren't an option, remember: there is nothing wrong with your boy. Understanding their needs and advocating for educational approaches that support their natural learning style can help them succeed and enjoy their educational journey. #raisingkids #parenthood #family #mumofboys #boys #raisingboys #sonhood #parentsofboys #parentingcoach #parentingadvice #raisingaboy #parenting #parentsupport #ChangeTheSystem #SupportOurBoys #InclusiveEducation #EarlyChildhoodEducation #LearningStyles

SPARK (Strong, Prepared And Ready for Kindergarten), our early childhood initiative, has added another playgroup to its weekly calendar - there are now five each week at the Aurora Housing Authority, Plano Public Library, Blackhawk Park, Spring Lake Park, and McCarty Park Our playgroups are designed for children aged birth to 5 years. Why do we hold so many playgroups, and why should you bring your child to a playgroup? One reason is that playgroups help children develop their cognitive skills. We offer activities that promote problem-solving, critical thinking, and creativity. These activities foster the development of a child's cognitive abilities, including memory, attention, and concentration. Additionally, playgroups often include activities that promote early literacy and numeracy skills, which prepare children for school. #earlyeducation #earlychildhood

As we say at St. David’s Center, “All behavior is communication.” Unfortunately, not all preschools and daycares have the tools to interpret and understand children’s communication, especially when that involves “big behaviors” like screaming and biting. The result? Alarmingly high rates of preschool expulsion, with children facing rejection and disruption at critical developmental stages. Through our Early Childhood Education (ECE) Consultation Program, we’re partnering with preschools to transform classrooms into inclusive, supportive environments. By building on each program’s strengths, we help educators interpret behaviors, manage challenges, and create systems that meet the needs of all children—including those with developmental differences and ACEs. Read our latest blog to hear one child’s story of “soft expulsion,” and to understand the kinds of changes needed to end the crisis in preschool expulsion. And for teachers and administrators, if you’re ready to enhance your program’s capacity, let’s connect and bring your vision to life. #InclusiveEducation #ECEConsultation #EveryChildThrives #EarlyLearning #TeachersSupportingTeachers
