Chapatis goes well with beans, and SDG2 Advocacy Hub, led by Paul Newnham is requesting people to embrace eating plant-based proteins, with beans being their best choice. Their campaign, #BeansIsHow, aims to double bean consumption globally by 2028. I believe this is achievable, and you only need to make the choice. #Foodsecurity #Chapatis #Beans

October 16th marks #WorldFoodDay, an international United Nations observance. According to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, food stands for diversity, nutrition, affordability, accessibility and safety, yet over 2.8 billion people in the world are unable to afford a healthy diet. Each year, World Food Day serves as a global reminder of the hunger crisis. At PPG, we're proud that our coatings play a crucial role in the safety and availability of food every day. By working with canmakers and food providers to preserve and store food in aluminum and steel cans, together we create non-perishable food items that are often used in food drives. Thanks to the efforts of individuals and organizations, there are many opportunities to participate in food drives. Do you plan to donate cans and other non-perishable items over the next few months? #foodcans #metalpackaging

“We know enough to act.” Thank you Judith Robinson! We have known enough to act for a very long time. Systems have been designed to benefit some and harm others. It’s important to consider where you sit in the system. For instance, every time you order a vinyl floor, you may not realize that it is keeping our fossil fuel reliance alive and well, and that people along the supply chain are being exposed to its pollution and toxic chemicals that are making them sick. Learn more about the full materials economy and the impacts it has on people and the planet. Start to eliminate products that cause harm. Connect with Judith Robinson and learn more about the work that Coming Clean and their fenceline community partners do to try to clean up the polluted air they breathe, and the contaminated water they drink. Check out Habitable’s (formerly Healthy Building Network) product guidance and let us help you take action that will clean up pollution, mitigate climate change, and support health and equity for all.

If animals don’t produce what we want, should we kill them? This question has been revolving in my mind for many days. For instance, if a cow stops giving us milk, should it be handed over to the beef and meat industries, and then, after the meat is taken, should the remaining parts be given to the leather industries? What do you think? When we ask a leather manufacturer why so many cows are killed, they often respond that the leather is simply a byproduct from the meat and beef industries. And when we ask the meat industry, they claim that these cows were handed over by the dairy industry. Meanwhile, dairy farmers justify this by saying they need to provide milk to consumers. 𝐒𝐨, 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐞𝐱𝐜𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐤 𝐧𝐨𝐰? And what is your opinion: should a cow have a natural death, or, like how humans donate their organs, should a cow’s or buffalo’s body be used for the meat and leather industries? #EmotionalORPractical?
