On World Creativity and Innovation Day, we took a moment to celebrate our journey in revolutionizing the packaging coating landscape with our BPA-free developments. 💡 - In May 2023, we introduced Accelshield™ 700 – our groundbreaking internal BPX-Ni coating designed specifically for can ends. This innovative coating is compatible with a wide range of beverages, including those with high acidity or requiring high-temperature sterilization processes like yoghurt drinks, milk, and coffee. - In November 2023, we proudly unveiled Accelstyle™️ 100 and 200, our external waterborne gloss and matte overprint varnishes (OPVs) for can bodies. Not only are these coatings free from bisphenols, but they also steer clear of styrene and PFAS, addressing additional environmental concerns. What's next? 🤔 We're excited to announce that several other new coatings are currently undergoing rigorous testing, with anticipated approvals on the horizon! Last week, during the highlight of our annual audit of our Henkel Dusseldorf Holthausen corporate and production facilities, I, as the assurance lead, visited the #Pritt glue stick production line along with colleagues and our external #auditors. Seeing the entire production was #remarkable, as Pritt glue sticks were a big part of my childhood. The unique smell from the added perfume is still the same as it was in the first batch back in 1969. The experience reminded me of pasting pictures in my diary and school books. Here are a few interesting things I did not know about Pritt: it is made 97% from #natural products, including potato starch, water, and sugar. A lipstick twistable casing was the inspiration for the stick as we know it. The standard Pritt stick is red everywhere except in the UK, where it is white. #FUNFACT - all Pritt produced by Henkel Adhesive Technologies at Holthausen is made using 100% #renewable #energy. Today, it is produced in three sizes. However, we once made a jumbo size, as seen in the picture, but it was discontinued due to lack of popularity. Want to know more? However, working with collagen and gelatin is far from standardized. ‘Collagen comes from natural sources. This means that while collagen is always collagen, no two batches are the same – making working with it challenging. One small change can affect everything. Our job at the Pilot Hall is not just to know about all those raw material differences and minor influencing factors, but to figure out how to manage them.
