#GWF2024 | The second session of the Summit held a panel discussion on the "Collaborative Opportunities for National Mapping Agencies", where David Henderson, Chief Geospatial Officer, Ordnance Survey says, "There is an abundance of data from the different sectors, availability of daily source of imagery and data. However, incorporating this data into the national map is still a challenge. To go from sensor to customer within a matter of hours at a scale of a national system of maintenance is still a huge challenge." "The foundational geospatial data in Great Britain can be better in terms of enrichment, quality, improvement, fundamental interoperability, would be incremental. I’m looking to explore all these facets this week." #challenges #geospatial #geospatialworldforum2024 #data #map #nationalmap #imagery Geospatial World Chamber of Commerce

Since the fires started in the Los Angeles area, we have collected more than 34,000 sq km of very high-resolution satellite imagery. We’ve been releasing imagery through our Open Data Program and customers like NOAA: National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration, Microsoft and McKenzie Intelligence Services have been creating additional geospatial insights with that data. We’ve gathered some of those resources in this blog post: https://lnkd.in/gtZQvXxt

If you have been working with satellite data, you certainly now how much we appreciate sunny days. And to overcome those cloudy days, a nice piece by Carmen Adriana Martínez Barbosa titled 𝐃𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐥𝐨𝐮𝐝𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐈 on Towards Data Science using Sentinel 2-A data: "Satellite imagery has revolutionized our world. Thanks to it, humanity can track, in real-time, changes in water, air, land, vegetation, and the footprint effects that we are producing around the globe. The applications that offer this kind of information are endless. For instance, they have been used to assess the impact of land use on river water quality. Satellite images have also been used to monitor wildlife and observe the growth of the urban population, among other things. " Read more: https://lnkd.in/diTH6rHw
