Dear friends, This article was inspired by a question my (then 8 year old) son asked about 13 years ago “What exactly is your work in office “? Thanks Hersh Shah, SIRM for your lightening fast effort to put this together 🙏https://lnkd.in/djUDDZdq I would love to hear your thoughts

Let us introduce you to the “window goddess”... 🪟 Kiffon Douglas, Founder + CEO of Window Monsters. 👷♀️ When it comes to windows, Kiffon Douglas is an expert. She started Window Monsters in 2005 after holding various roles (from receptionist to saleswoman) for a construction company. Now, almost 20 years in business, Kiffon brings woman’s wisdom to a male-dominated industry. As some of her contractors say, Kiffon is truly the “Window Goddess.” Fast Fact: Window Monsters has done so well by word-of-mouth since its founding 20 years ago, that the company hasn’t had to pay a dime for advertising. A STEP AT A TIME “I started working in construction in 1989 as a receptionist for a window business. When I approached my boss and said I wanted to do outside sales, I was told, ‘No, you’re a girl.’ But I didn’t take no for an answer. I said, ‘I can do it. I can handle myself.’ That’s how I became a saleswoman." “When I started Window Monsters, initially I struggled putting my systems together because I went from scratch even though I had already worked with contractors. I didn’t understand the ins and outs of deliveries, or how hard it was to give a proper time frame. I give a bigger cushion of time now for our installers. It’s been fun to figure out.” Check out our full list of female founders at businessqmag.com. #femalefounder #womeninbusiness #bluecollarbusiness #womeninconstruction #windowmonsters

Vivian’s glasses often get a little dirty, but she doesn't usually notice because she is focused on other things. On the other hand, Machaela does notice and is quick to clean them. It’s a small example of how we work together—two different perspectives, both valuable. When you work with us, you're getting the best of both worlds: someone who’s calm and focused on the big picture, and someone who’s detail-oriented and proactive. This balance helps us see things from different angles and get results that truly work. (And yes, Vivian is grateful for clean glasses and Machaela can rest easier with this detail handled😄) #socialmedia #socialmediamarketing #socialmediaexpert #socialmediatipsandtricks #loveyourworkwedo #loveyourworkinglife

The LinkedIn Profile Picture Chronicles: When My Bird Stole the Spotlight 📸🐦 Ever tried to take a professional LinkedIn profile picture with a bird? Here's a tale of how my feathered friend turned a simple photo session into a comedy of errors: 🔹 The Setup: Determined to capture the perfect professional image, I set up my camera with a neat background and dressed in my best attire. My bird, however, had other plans. 🔹 The Unexpected Photobomb: Just as I clicked, my bird swooped in, landing on my shoulder with a chirp of approval. Its feathers were perfectly ruffled, and it seemed to be posing for its own LinkedIn debut. 🔹 The Decision Dilemma: After many attempts (some with a bird beak or feathers covering my face), I settled on a shot where my bird looked regal and I looked like I was hosting a wildlife documentary. 🔹 The Surprising Response: Despite the unexpected company, my LinkedIn connections loved the authenticity and humor. Messages flooded in about my "winged assistant" and how it added a unique touch to my profile. Lesson learned: Sometimes, the best moments are unplanned. Whether it's a bird photobomb or a quirky anecdote, embracing the unexpected can make your LinkedIn profile stand out in a memorable way! P.S- Here's a picture of her supervising my presentation making skills #LinkedInHumor #ProfilePictureChronicles #WorkLifeWithBirds #FeatheredFriendPhotobomb

One of the things I loved about the W+K office was the wall art & installations within the space. The wall that I crossed multiple times a day to get to the pantry had an installation of the words ‘Fail harder’ made with round colourful pegs stuck on it. FAIL HARDER. A company encouraging you to fail. That’s something! Mistakes in every industry are frowned upon and the ones made in ours often cost jobs, clients and the company’s reputation. But what we often overlook are the lessons that come with the mistake - for the person who made it and for the team it impacted. Mistakes indicate a lack of process either on the part of the individual or the organisation. With each error comes a new SOP. While a mistake must be avoided, in an industry like ours with young talent, short deadlines and multiple on-going projects, mistakes are inevitable. What we must learn to do is take responsibility for our actions, forgive and move on. We must acknowledge the lessons. So the next time you make a mistake, make sure it’s a new one. Learn from it. Grow from it. 𝗙𝗔𝗜𝗟 𝗛𝗔𝗥𝗗𝗘𝗥, 𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗡 𝗙𝗔𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗥. PC: Studio Organon #advertising #officeart #fail #failharder #lessons #mistakes
