A321neo Takes Off: Airbus' Workhorse Remains the Airline Favourite! Airbus' A321neo continues to dominate the narrowbody jet market, outpacing its smaller sibling, the A320neo, for the fifth month in a row. This trend highlights the ongoing preference for the larger variant among airlines. Delivery Numbers Tell the Story Airbus themselves reported strong delivery figures for the A321neo. In May 2024, they delivered 22 A321neos compared to just 19 A320neos. This trend extends to the year so far, with a total of 113 A321neo deliveries versus 95 A320neos. This preference isn't new. The A321neo has been the more popular choice for several years, exceeding A320neo production in both 2022 and 2023. #Airport #Airline #A321neo #EASA #AviationIndustry #OEM #Airbus #AviationOasis https://lnkd.in/en6k3dJt

Indian low-cost carrier IndiGo has made a significant move by entering the long-haul market with an order for 30 Airbus A350 aircraft, with an option for 70 more. This marks a strategic shift for the airline, which has primarily focused on short-haul flights within Asia. The decision to expand into long-haul routes indicates IndiGo's ambition to compete with other full-service carriers on international routes. The Airbus A350 is known for its fuel efficiency and long-range capabilities, making it an ideal choice for long-haul flights. This move will not only allow IndiGo to tap into new markets and attract a different segment of passengers but also position the airline as a major player in the global aviation industry. It will be interesting to see how IndiGo's entry into the long-haul market will impact the competitive landscape and passenger preferences in the future.

I ❤️ Planes The True Cost of Flying an Airbus A380. The Airbus A380 is the world’s largest passenger aircraft. The full-length double-deck aircraft has typical seating for 525 passengers, with a maximum certified capacity for 853 passengers. It is impressive but expensive to operate. Here's a breakdown of the key costs: 1. Fuel Costs An A380 burns about 12,000 litres per hour. For a 20-hour flight, that’s around 240,000 litres of fuel – or **$240,000** at current prices. 2. Crew Costs A long-haul flight requires 2 Captains, 2 First Officers, and 22 cabin crew, totalling around **$30,000–$40,000**. 3. Maintenance Costs Maintenance ranges from $5,000 per line check to $25 million for comprehensive D-checks, averaging **$1,000–$2,000**per flight hour. 4. Airport Fees Airport and ground handling fees can total **$30,000–$40,000**per flight, depending on the airport. 5. Depreciation & Financing Leasing costs can reach $1.2–$1.5 million per month. Owned aircraft depreciate from a **$445 million** purchase price over 20 years. 6. Example: Emirates’ Costs Emirates, the largest A380 operator, spends about $30,000 per flight hour. A 14-hour flight costs around **$420,000**. 7. Breaking Even To cover a $500,000 flight cost an A380 must generate **$1,000 per passenger** with near-full occupancy. In Summary ✈️ The A380 is a giant of the skies with giant costs to match. As airlines weigh these costs against revenue, the future of the A380 in a greener aviation world remains uncertain. #giantaircraft #A380 #aeroplanes #aircargo #airfreight #aircraft

A few weeks ago, Iberia officially became the new global launch customer for the Airbus A321XLR, thanks to Aer Lingus’ ongoing pay dispute with pilots. There’s now an additional update, as it looks like we now know what to expect onboard Iberia’s new long haul, narrow body jets. Iberia will be first airline to fly Airbus A321XLR In June 2019, Airbus formally launched the Airbus A321XLR, which will be the world’s longest range narrow body jet. This aircraft is based on the Airbus A321 family of aircraft, but features even more incremental range improvement over the A321neo and A321LR (which already have more range than the A321ceo). Airlines have ordered hundreds of these jets, as they look for long range, low capacity jets, that can open up all kinds of new markets. The first A321XLR is expected to be delivered to airlines in Q3 2024. https://lnkd.in/g7NiXmEE

What to expect from the new aircraft Iberia is kitting the Airbus A321XLR out as a long-haul aircraft in a narrowbody airframe. While its standard A321s fit up to 232 passengers in a completely 3-3 layout, the XLR will have a 1-1 layout of 14 lie-flat seats in the front of the aircraft, followed by 168 economy seats in the traditional 3-3 layout behind the dividing bulkhead.
