Our team lunch and learn sessions are much more than a chance to take a break. They're about discovering new things, learning from guest speakers, and sharing personal perspectives. This Stroke Awareness session was our most popular lunch and learn all year, Anne and Dawn talked us through: ✅ Spotting the signs early—F.A.S.T. (Face, Arms, Speech, Time) and ✅ Understanding risk factors like stress, diet, and lifestyle. If you'd like to run a session in your business, DM Anne Magarin 👇🏻
Senior Administration, PA, EA & Facilities Recruiter | Advocate for good mental health and wellbeing | Helping you get better results from your recruitment so you can stress less.
Last Wednesday, Anne Magarin and Head Stroke Nurse for Grampian Dawn, joined the TMM team to discuss stats, symptoms, and what services Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland offer alongside their newly refreshed campaign, F.A.S.T. With almost 11,000 people suffering from a stroke every year in Scotland, it is critical to be aware of the signs and how to seek help as soon as possible. Dawn advised that if you experience even 1 of the 3 common symptoms – face, arm and / or speech, to call 999 and get seen by a medical professional. Think it’s a stroke? Act F.A.S.T. Call 999. Thanks again to Anne and Dawn for visiting – a very informative and impactful lunch. Working in the world of recruitment, I know many in the team appreciated getting their blood pressure taken! *video credit to Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland

May is Action on Stroke Month, a critical time to raise awareness and improve care for stroke survivors. At The Institute of Registered Case Managers, we are committed to supporting Case Managers in their vital roles. According to our 2023 survey, 5% of Case Managers have a scope of practice that includes working with individuals recovering from a stroke. This highlights the importance of specialised knowledge and resources in this area. We would like to share the National Clinical Guidelines for Stroke for the UK and Ireland. These guidelines were collaboratively developed by the Royal College of Physicians, Healthcare Improvement Scotland, and Royal College of Physicians of Ireland. This document provides comprehensive guidelines on the organisation of stroke services, acute care, rehabilitation and recovery, long-term management, and secondary prevention. These guidelines are NICE accredited, ensuring they meet the highest standards of care. By following these guidelines, Case Managers can ensure they provide the best possible support to stroke survivors throughout their recovery journey. Download the guidelines here: https://lnkd.in/gmRdZYsZ.. Let's work together to improve stroke care and support for those affected. #ActionOnStrokeMonth #StrokeCare #CaseManagers

Reflecting on a Patient Who Left a Lasting Impact 💙 Last night, I received a message that stopped me in my tracks. 💔 One of my longest-standing patients, who I cared for 13 years ago in the Surgical Trauma ICU, has returned to the hospital in critical condition. My heart is heavy as I think about him and his family. I’ve had a handful of patients from that season of my life who have stayed close to me, even long after they left the hospital. 🏥 This patient and his family are among them. I can still remember which room he was in, specific elements of his care plan, and the resilience they all displayed during such a difficult time. Working in critical care means seeing people at their most vulnerable moments. I’ve stood at the edge of life and death more times than I can count. Each experience has left a mark on me—both heart-wrenching and deeply humbling. To my network: 👉 How do you process and carry the memories of those you’ve cared for, even years later? 👉 Have you had patients or families who have profoundly shaped the way you approach care? I’d love to hear your reflections. 💙 Moments like this remind me of the incredible humanity and connection in our work, even when it’s incredibly hard. #CriticalCare #PatientStories #HealthcareReflections #CompassionInCare #NursePractitionerLife #TraumaCare 🏥✨💙

This week we celebrated the work of Northwest Medical Center – Springdale’s emergency department team. By activating a stroke alert promptly, they are making a significant impact in saving lives and improving outcomes for our patients. Remember, stroke is a 9-1-1 emergency. Stroke happens to people of all ages, and we are seeing strokes in younger and younger patients. If you or a loved one experiences signs of a stroke, call 9-1-1. EMS providers will start the stroke chain of survival. And, remember to BEFAST: B – Balance: Is there a sudden loss of balance? E – Eyes: Is there blurred vision in one or both eyes? F – Face: Is there facial droop or a crooked smile? A – Arms: Does one arm droop? S – Speech: Is speech slurred? Ask the person to recite, “The sky is blue.” T – Time: Time to call 911! Time is of the essence. Know your nearest stroke-ready hospital!
