In the final part of our BENCH LOCKSMITHING course earlier this week, Chris demonstrated how to change the colour of metals using heat! 🔥 By applying direct heat to mild steel, he transformed its colour from brown to dark purple and then to blue. Strip and report time..... This pump was removed because it had siezed, my findings were a severe cavitated volute which had caused the impeller shoulder to bind with metal from the volute. These have a bronze impeller and a cast wear ring which is part of the volute and both need replacing. Due to the cost of these parts a new pump will be required. #fireprotection #firepumps #overhauling #keepitmoving

Check out the work we did to the bones to get it WORK Worthy: -Replaced all air lines, hydraulic lines, & fittings. -Updated manual slack adjusters to automatics, bringing it into the 21st century. -Rebuilt the dump chute so it's once again functional. -Repaired the wiring conduit and ran new wiring throughout the trailer. -Replaced all exterior lighting. -Updated brake and safety valves with new units to keep everyone safe. -Reinforced weak critical points on the chassis to support the WORK loads. -Welded damaged areas on the box and reinforced critical areas to extend the life of the dump.
