https://lnkd.in/g-JV_Z_H I know as humans/parents we have to teach our kids to learn to manage and be responsible with tech/social media but under the age of 16, I feel, is too young for developing brains. I wish they had laws set in way way sooner to prevent the crisis we have today but I am thankful that South Australia are setting wheels in motion to get something in place. In fact, the age requirement to have social media is 13…. (In my opinion, still way too young). There are so many kids and adults that are fabricating their ages so they can access these platforms before the age of 13. Children are being exposed to everything and anything, along with the negative psychological affects, addictive affects, social effects, mental health concerns (depression, anxiety) that is widely researched to have negative effects on all humans and more negative affects on developing brains… As a parent I thought that monitoring these platforms or screen use will keep them safe but it’s impossible to monitor it all. We’re fighting a loosing battle for our children’s mental health and psychological health unless we set expectations as a whole. One of the main reason parents (Including myself) “give in” to their children having these platforms, is because their “friends do” and their children are feeling left out, so the guilt sets in and parents may feel inclined to give in.
