🤔What happens when biases in healthcare go unnoticed and how can we turn the tide toward equity? 🌟 At our third workshop for the NHS Sussex Health Equity Fellowship, our cohort 2 Health Equity Fellows came together for the third workshop in their journey, focusing on ‘Delivering Operational Excellence’. Hosted at the Charis Centre in Crawley. 🫀Framed by the compelling story of how systemic biases in diagnosing women’s heart attacks were addressed through retraining and protocol changes in Swedish hospitals, we explored how to embed equity into every layer of care delivery. The session was all about turning big challenges into actionable solutions for health equity. A huge thank you to our facilitator, Charlotte John, for guiding us through this impactful session! 🙌🏿 Key takeaways included: 🔍 Using tools like Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and PDSA cycles to tackle inequities in service delivery. 🧩 Co-designing solutions through personas and patient engagement to meet real community needs. 📊 Measuring impact using Health Equity Impact Assessments (HEIA) to track meaningful progress. 🌟 Reflecting on clinical and operational biases and developing inclusive leadership to create cultures of innovation. The recognition of LPOs as allied health professionals will be transformative. The critical role we play in improving public health through organization and efficiency remains largely unrecognized within the healthcare sector. This petition is a crucial step towards changing that. By establishing the role of Licensed Professional Organizer (LPO) as an allied health profession, we can finally gain the recognition and credibility needed to expand our impact.

As a doctor who made the decision to work outside the NHS, I’ve often faced questions, and sometimes judgement, about whether I’ve ‘defected’ or lost the ‘calling’ to help patients. But nothing could be further from the truth. 🩺 The truth is, a huge part of my decision to step beyond the well-trodden clinical career path was driven by a deep desire to help people on a larger scale 🌍. I wanted to address the root causes of disease, impact population health, and create solutions that could transform lives far beyond the limits of a single clinic or hospital. That’s why I leapt at the opportunity to join Reset Health nearly 2.5 years ago. At the time, I had high hopes for what we could achieve but I couldn’t have imagined just how much those aspirations would bear fruit. 🍎🌱 Today, I’m thrilled to share that Roczen is collaborating with Health Innovation Network South London, Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust and King's College London on a 3 year NIHR-funded research project. Together, we’re working to prove the value of integrating our digitally delivered clinical service to improve the standard of care for people living with obesity. Importantly, the RENEW study will prioritise what matters most- the patients- by focusing on patient experience and health inequalities. 🏥💻 And that’s not all. We’re also partnering with Affidea to make our service available to their 14 million patients, bringing life-changing health solutions to people living with obesity and type 2 diabetes across Europe. ✈️🌍 Looking ahead, I’m more excited than ever for the future of Reset Health 🚀. With partnerships like these, we’re pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in health care, and we’re just getting started. There is a growing need for health care leaders to intentionally create community and connection in health care environments to offset the increasingly transactional nature of health care delivery and the high rates of health care worker distress and loneliness. Peer support is a powerful tool that can mitigate this challenging environment. Each of the coauthors represents an institution that has purposefully incorporated a mixture of approaches to extend peer support. The authors find that with each incorporation of peer support, there is synergy in building a culture of well-being. Supportive and friendly relationships between colleagues increases positive emotions at and about work, and improves creativity and work performance, strengthening organizational performance and culture. The authors posit that by intentionally integrating and leveraging basic and essential elements of peer support in day-to-day operations, it is possible — and essential — to promote organization-wide change that supports a healing culture and mitigates health care worker distress and loneliness. We believe all team members should be recognized as everyday leaders who possess creative ideas and skills to improve the delivery of care to persons with serious illness. Our goal is to harness that creativity and diversity of thought through a community focused on all interprofessional team members. CalAIM provides enhanced care management and community supports to address social needs. Enhanced Care Management: • is a statewide MediCal Managed Care Plan benefit to support elevated comprehensive care management for members who have the most complex cases • assigns members with complex needs a Care Manager to help them navigate their care and services across the physical, behavioral, and dental health delivery systems. We’re working with California Health Policy Strategies (CalHPS) to support a CalAIM Statewide Dementia Care Learning Collaborative to support community-based organizations that are serving older dual eligibles and persons with dementia at high risk of institutionalization to offer enhanced care management.
