The Fall Issue is Out! "Which martial art should I start in?" It's one of the more common questions I get from police applicants, security guards and law enforcement officers interested in getting better. My response? It depends. But to know more why it depends, read my article in this issue of Blue Line Magazine. https://lnkd.in/gwhnZ9T5 #blueline #police #lawenforcement #security #publicsafety

The way I see it, supporting any type of #terror, but especially extreme faith-driven, by any Western society member is one of the clearest indications of either a "successful" #radicalization, a complete and utter ignorance about what really is going on in the world combined with a strong urge to be part of a group (ANY group that would accept them) - or a very concerning mental issue. And yes, the world must know who these individuals are. If #radicalized, they must be put behind bars. If ignorance is the reason, they need to be patiently educated, and if it's a mental issue - urgent professional help is in order. #antisemitism #publicsafety #terrorism #radicalislam

In support of the national police campaign Sceptre. Ultimat Defence recognises that knife crime is an ongoing and growing threat and issue here in the UK. Not just for the public but for officer safety as well. In light of recent incidents, including a harrowing machete attack on police personnel, it has become imperative to not only remove these deadly weapons from our streets but also to provide comprehensive training to our officers. Our extensive range of highly realistic replica training weapons enables our law enforcement agencies to simulate and prepare for such critical situations, ensuring that our officers are equipped with the necessary skills and readiness to confront the harsh realities they may encounter while safeguarding our communities. #OpSceptre #KnviesShatterLives #DropTheKnife #PoliceTraining #UltimatDefence

Like social media companies, federal agencies are pulling back from tracking online extremism, including from domestic terrorist and white supremacist groups: "None of the applications that DHS approved in 2024 for its terrorism prevention program focused on internet radicalization. By contrast, in 2022, DHS awarded $9.2 million to 19 grant applicants who sought money for work related to digital misinformation and studying extremists’ online messaging. DHS also recently shuttered a unit that swept the internet for threatening materials in public posts, social media messages and online forums, according to two of the former government officials who were involved in that effort."
news: FBI and DHS and largely stopped reporting violent extremist threats to social media firms amid GOP pushback. - Anti-radicalization funding has dropped by millions since Jan. 6 - DHS quietly closed a unit that looked for public threats - Top law enforcement officials say online extremism-related violence is a primary US national security threat, as we saw in New Oreleans and the Buffalo shooting https://lnkd.in/e75fkN_8

Merry Christmas from New York City Administration of Childrens Services where Meghan Connors and I are conducting human trafficking interdiction. We have officers, deputies, Troopers, advocates and ACS from New York and New Jersey learning skills about human trafficking. Always fun to be in the city for Christmas and help new officers learn how to find victims and arrest traffickers. #training #police #policetraining #humantrafficking #lawenforcement #lawenforcementtraining

Chaos or order - The Thin Blue Line It’s is not just a symbol, but a profound reminder of the role law enforcement plays in maintaining the delicate balance between society and anarchy. Every day, police officers stand as the first line of defense against the breakdown of stability. They are the ones who face the storm head-on, stepping into volatile situations to restore peace and protect the innocent. It's the officers who run toward danger, when most would run away. They do not merely enforce the law—they are the shield that upholds the very foundation of our safety and freedom. Behind every badge is a commitment to maintain that balance, no matter the personal cost. In their hands, the weight of justice, order, and peace rests. Their role is critical—not just in times of crisis, but in keeping the fabric of society intact day in and day out. #ThinBlueLine #LawEnforcement #Police #OrderInChaos #Courage #Sacrifice #Safety #Leadership #PublicService

In recent months there has been an increase in private citizens usurping police authority and taking the law into their own hands in Israel. IDI experts Dr. Yael Litmanovitz and Mirit Sharabi-Lavi warn that these events are not taking place in a vacuum and that the lack of enforcement against vigilante actions must be closely monitored. At the same time, the ongoing war has led to an expanded use of private security services by local authorities and a surge in private gun ownership – both of which must be overseen and regulated government. All this makes it more important than ever that, “the police must take effective action against independent civilian groups wherever these are formed, set clear boundaries via determined enforcement, and maintain constant communication with the public to explain these boundaries.” Read the column here: https://bit.ly/3VfhOJ0

😆 I am delighted to share my recent publication alongside my amazing co-authors Dr Eric Halford, Karen Bullock, and Jon Garland with my LinkedIn network! '𝑶𝒑𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒊𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑰𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒈𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝑶𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑰𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝑳𝒂𝒘 𝑬𝒏𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒄𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕: 𝑯𝒂𝒓𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑻𝑯𝑹𝑰𝑽𝑬 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑵𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝑰𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒈𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝑴𝒐𝒅𝒆𝒍 𝑨𝒅𝒗𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕' 📖 This paper explores how and to what degree the principles of THRIVE have been embedded within intelligence work in a single police intelligence structure 🧐 We investigate if and how this integration has impacted the application of the National Intelligence Model 😲 The study identifies that intelligence work is a key area where THRIVE has been introduced. 🧐 Our discussion covers the uptake of the THRIVE philosophy, its impact on the NIM, and what these changes mean for intelligence practitioners, particularly analysts 🧐 We examine whether the introduction of THRIVE has caused significant problems in the application of the NIM or if staff do not fully embrace its principles, potentially negatively affecting the foundation upon which the NIM is built. 🗣 Through interviews and Freedom of Information (FOI) requests, we gather the views and experiences of intelligence practitioners regarding this development 👏 A heartfelt thank you to the Journal of Policing, Intelligence and Counter Terrorism for their seamless process and unwavering support throughout this submission! 🔗 For those who wish to read the full article, the link is below:
