Today, on World Children’s Day, we acknowledge how far we've come. It's been 65 years since the Declaration of the Rights of the Child and 35 years since the Convention on the Rights of the Child. While we've made significant progress in securing children's rights over the years, we must also recognize how much work remains. The truth is, too many children around the world still live in conditions that rob them of their childhood. This World Children’s Day serves as a reminder that children’s rights matter. Their voices matter. Their safety matters. Their opinions matter. Their well-being matters. And their futures matter. We need to hear this, loud and clear, because every child deserves to be seen, heard, and protected no matter how young. Let’s imagine a world where no child goes hungry due to poverty. Where no child is forced to go to a battlefield instead of sitting in a classroom. Where no child is denied healthcare before they even have a chance to grow. A world where girls are not sold into child marriage. Where no young girl is subjected to the cruel and harmful practice of female genital mutilation. Where children can enjoy the basic right to play without fear. And where every child, no matter their gender, has access to education. A world where children's rights are upheld as a basic right, not a luxury. This isn’t just a dream. It’s a responsibility! We have a duty to protect children from violence, exploitation, and neglect. But it’s not just about protecting them from harm; it’s about creating a world where children have the right to be children: to play, to learn, to dream, and to grow without fear. Let’s not forget the bigger picture: children are the future. The choices we make today shape the world they will inherit tomorrow. If we want a world where our children can prosper—we must act now. Every decision we make impacts their tomorrow. So, to commemorate this World Children’s Day, let’s remind ourselves that children deserve more than just survival. They deserve the chance to be heard , to grow up safe, healthy, and free to be the best version of themselves. #Listentothefuture #WorldChildrensday #childprotection

Today, on World Children's Day, let's celebrate the incredible potential and resilience of our youngest generation! 👧👦 Millions of children around the world face challenges that hinder their rights to safety, education, and well-being. Despite progress in child rights advocacy, many children still endure poverty, violence, and exploitation, robbing them of their childhood and future opportunities. Children in underserved communities lack access to quality education, perpetuating cycles of poverty and inequality. Limited resources, inadequate infrastructure, and cultural barriers often impede their ability to learn and thrive, depriving them of essential skills and opportunities for a brighter future. This highlight the urgent need for inclusive education policies and investments in children's welfare. By prioritizing access to quality education, healthcare, and protection services, we can empower children to reach their full potential and break the cycle of poverty. But it's not just about addressing immediate needs; it's about creating environments where children feel safe, valued, and empowered to voice their aspirations. Delight in the simple joys of childhood and nurture environments where children can learn, play, and grow without fear or discrimination. Let's use today to advocate for children's rights and commit to creating a world where every child can thrive. #WorldChildrensDay #ForEveryChild #ChildRights #EducationForAll #FutureLeaders #EndChildPoverty #SafeChildhood #InvestInKids #EmpowerChildren #InclusiveEducation

How Do Kids See Other Kids with Special Needs? We believe in a world where all children feel loved and included. Children are naturally curious. Sometimes, they might not understand why another child looks or acts differently. This can make them avoid playing with these special children. At Ilera'a Mi, we think that's where education comes in! By teaching children about different developmental abilities, we can: . Build empathy and understanding: Help kids see past differences and make friends. . Reduce hurtful behaviours: Show them how to be kind and include everyone in play. . Create a safer world for everyone: A world where children with special needs feel accepted. ----------------------------------------------- How can we make a difference? Open Conversations: Talk to your children about disabilities and celebrate diversity. Inclusive Activities: Choose games and toys that can be enjoyed by everyone, regardless of ability. By teaching kids about being kind and understanding, but it starts with you, parents, teachers and guardians! Join us in spreading awareness and promoting health education for all children! @ilearami@gmail.com Share in the #comment how you handled your child's/wards' experience with special needs kids. 🧸🌍 Ever feel like you’re running a daycare at the office? Between “reminding” colleagues about deadlines and “cleaning up” everyone else’s spreadsheets, the 9-to-5 can feel a bit like keeping the peace on the playground. But here’s the thing—unlike our colleagues, actual children don’t always have a voice. Today, on World Children’s Day, let’s take a moment away from the numbers, the KPIs, and the endless emails to think about young people around the globe who deserve safe, healthy, and empowering environments. From education to healthcare, there are children everywhere whose basic rights are still a distant dream. So while we joke about "adulting" all day, let’s remember that many kids are forced to grow up way too fast. Let’s stand up for children’s rights today and work toward a world where every child has a chance to thrive. 🌱 You can find out more about World Children's Day here: https://lnkd.in/e-Bcp7d4 #unicef #worldchildrensday

World Children’s Day – “Listen to the Future” AND “Honor the Now” Through Dignity Children are the future, but they are also the now. They are not just waiting to inherit the world we leave them—they are already living in it. Yet, millions of children face a harsh reality where their dignity is overlooked or outright violated. Dignity is not just a word; it is the foundation of every child’s right. Without dignity, there is no respect, no equality, no justice. When we honor a child’s dignity, we affirm their humanity. We create a world where their rights are more than ideals—they become lived realities. If we fail to protect the dignity of children in their now, how can we promise them a better future? Do it anyway. Advocating for children’s dignity and rights is not easy. Resistance arises from entrenched norms, fear of change, and power imbalances. But we must act regardless: Do it anyway, even when the system resists. Do it anyway, even when people claim children should be “seen, not heard.” Do it anyway, because restoring dignity is the first step toward ending violence, neglect, and inequality. Some adults may feel threatened by the idea of children being treated with full dignity and rights. They might see it as a challenge to authority or tradition. Let them feel that anyway. Discomfort is part of growth, and growth is essential for progress. Dignity: The Key to “Listening to the Now” Listening to the now means recognizing children’s inherent worth and addressing the injustices they face today. Here’s how dignity becomes the cornerstone of action: At Home: Treat children with respect, allowing their voices to be heard in family decisions. A dignified home is the first space where children learn they matter. In Schools: End practices that demean children, such as corporal punishment or humiliation. A child’s dignity must never be compromised in the name of discipline. In Communities: Ensure that every space children inhabit—parks, neighborhoods, places of worship—respects their presence and contributions. In Policies: Design laws and programs that treat children as full individuals, not just dependents. Prioritize their safety, education, and well-being. In Advocacy: Working together for children’s rights, we are defending their dignity—the foundation upon which all rights are built. A Question to Reflect On "Thinking back to when you were a child, what do you wish the adults in your life—caregivers, teachers, governments, or others—had done differently to make your life better now?" — Professor Lucien Lombardo This question reminds us that dignity begins with how we treat children today. Every choice we make—whether as parents, educators, policymakers, or community members—shapes their now and their future. Let’s not just listen to the future—let’s honor the now by building a world where every child’s dignity is protected, respected, and celebrated. #DignityForChildren #ListenToTheNow Lucien Lombardo Philip D. Today, November 20th, World Children’s Day is celebrated. The day marks the United Nations General Assembly’s adoption of the Declaration of the Rights of the Child (1959) and the Convention on the Rights of the Child (1989). In 2024, #WorldChildrensDay calls on adults to listen to the future. By listening to children, we can fulfill their right to self-expression, understand their ideas for a better world, and include their priorities in our actions today. Children's rights are #humanrights and they are non-negotiable. Unfortunately, in many places, they are ignored, misunderstood, even denied or attacked. World Children’s Day provides an opportunity to focus on the issues that matter most to children. Here are some tops on how you can participate in Children's Day: - Join local events - Organize your own event at school, daycare, or hobby group - Support #UNICEF or other children's organizations - Talk with children #WorldChildrensDay2024 #childrenrights #sustainabilityatuniversities
