🌍 2030 Water Resources Group joined leading experts at the roundtable on 'Water and Climate: Research – Policy – Society Interface' at Nazarbayev University in Astana, Kazakhstan. The event gathered water experts, researchers, policymakers, and representatives from Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, FAO, and The World Bank, to strengthen the link between research and real-world water policy to tackle water challenges in Kazakhstan and Central Asia. Central Asia is one of the regions that is most vulnerable to water stress and environmental pressures. Transboundary water systems, infrastructure gaps, and mounting food and energy needs underscore the urgency for integrated, collaborative responses. At the roundtable, we emphasized the critical role of data and research in shaping actionable water policies, the value of multi-stakeholder dialogue, and the urgency of scaling innovative and sustainable water-use practices. This roundtable is part of WRG’s ongoing support to the Government of Kazakhstan and partners in building more resilient and inclusive water systems in the country and across Central Asia.
