The Government of Uttar Pradesh has achieved a significant milestone in sustainable water resources management with the launch of India’s first community-owned and operated Central Pivot Irrigation system in Ragauli, Jalaun. This initiative is the result of strong public-private collaboration under the UP PRAGATI Accelerator Program, led by 2030 Water Resources Group (WRG), with support from the Gates Foundation and corporate partners including The Coca-Cola Company. The Accelerator program brings together global expertise and local insights to co-create solutions that enhance resilience, conserve water, and boost productivity for smallholder farmers. In a region where over half of the cultivated land depends solely on rainfall, this irrigation system is a timely solution. Its ability to deliver water precisely where and when needed helps farmers grow more with less, thereby boosting crop yields and enhancing water efficiency. The World Bank and WRG remain committed to advancing locally driven, scalable innovations that secure livelihoods, support food systems, and strengthen long-term resilience in water-stressed regions. 🌍 2030 Water Resources Group joined leading experts at the roundtable on 'Water and Climate: Research – Policy – Society Interface' at Nazarbayev University in Astana, Kazakhstan. The event gathered water experts, researchers, policymakers, and representatives from Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, FAO, and The World Bank, to strengthen the link between research and real-world water policy to tackle water challenges in Kazakhstan and Central Asia. Central Asia is one of the regions that is most vulnerable to water stress and environmental pressures. Transboundary water systems, infrastructure gaps, and mounting food and energy needs underscore the urgency for integrated, collaborative responses. At the roundtable, we emphasized the critical role of data and research in shaping actionable water policies, the value of multi-stakeholder dialogue, and the urgency of scaling innovative and sustainable water-use practices. This roundtable is part of WRG’s ongoing support to the Government of Kazakhstan and partners in building more resilient and inclusive water systems in the country and across Central Asia. 💧 2030 Water Resources Group, last week, facilitated a high-impact workshop in Bogotá, Colombia, to advance water security in the city, bringing together over 100 stakeholders from government, utilities, civil society, and the private sector. The workshop was co-hosted alongside Empresa de Acueducto y Alcantarillado de Bogotá (EAAB), The World Bank, IFC - International Finance Corporation, and Inter-American Development Bank (IADB). During the two-day workshop, participants committed to developing a strategy to strengthen Bogotá’s efforts in addressing urban water scarcity, supported by a multi-stakeholder platform to engage public, private, and civil society organizations in a citywide approach to address future water challenges. Discussions covered Bogotá’s water security priorities, lessons from successful multi-stakeholder platforms in São Paulo and Peru, and a collective effort to define the platform’s objectives, model, and implementation roadmap. #2030WRG Michael John Webster, Gustavo Saltiel, Álvaro Ernesto Narváez Fuentes
