The Manager of General Accounting is an integral part of the Company's North America Accounting department, responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting functions and managing the month-end and year-end closing procedures for the US and Canadian entities. This role is crucial for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, which are submitted in SyRUS in accordance with LVMH requirements. The Manager will lead an accounting team of six direct reports, who handle various general accounting functions including intercompany accounting, payroll accounting, bank reconciliations, accounting for prepaids and accruals, as well as sales adjustments and reconciliations. In addition to providing expertise and guidance, the Manager is responsible for the training and development of the team and supporting requests from various areas of the organization. The Manager will also participate in departmental and company-wide projects and initiatives. This position requires a strong team player with excellent interpersonal, communication, and decision-making skills, capable of building relationships with finance partners globally and working cross-functionally.
Location: This position is in-person with a hybrid schedule in Parsippany, NJ.
Key Accountabilities:
Responsible for managing the day-to-day intercompany accounting process, which includes:
Overseeing the tasks of two direct reports, which includes reviewing and approving journal entries and intercompany reconciliations for North America.
Managing reconciliation procedures for merchandise and miscellaneous activities, including cash movement and application for payments and returns.
Developing and implementing global intercompany reconciliation procedures, creating comprehensive training materials, and conducting training sessions for the international accounting team as needed.
Reviewing monthly intercompany matching reports generated from HFM to ensure timely resolution of any discrepancies.
Ensuring that intercompany sales are reconciled daily.
Responsible for managing the day-to-day payroll accounting process, which includes:
Overseeing the tasks of two direct reports, which includes reviewing and approving weekly and bi-weekly payroll journal entries, monthly payroll and commission accruals and payroll account reconciliations for North America.
Reviewing the annual analysis of a planned benefit rate, evaluating the actual benefit rate against the planned rate and providing insightful commentary to the FP&A team regarding variances.
Ensuring comprehensive accounting for all incentive-related activities, including management incentives, long-term incentives, 401K contributions and DCRB contributions.
Reconciling payroll taxes and related payments to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Responsible for managing other day-to-day general accounting processes, which includes:
Overseeing the tasks of two direct reports, which includes reviewing and approving journal entries for prepaids, accruals, cash and reviewing account reconciliations (including bank reconciliations) for North America.
Reviewing revenue recognition adjustment activities, such as sales return reserves, by collaborating with America's Finance team to develop an annual plan and evaluating performance against actual quarterly results.
Ensuring daily reconciliation of third-party sales and promptly addressing any discrepancies with the IT and Consolidations teams for timely resolution.
Reviewing intragroup activities between US entities and other LVMH Maisons to ensure accurate recording and reconciliation.
Develop and manage departmental personnel, which includes:
Providing technical accounting guidance and training where necessary.
Developing strong goals and objectives for the team and measure their performance accordingly.
Hold weekly open items meeting to understand competing priorities and challenges.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelors of Science degree in Accounting
8+ years of public and/or private accounting or related experience
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and IFRS
Excellent oral, written, listening and analytical skills
Strong organizational and time management skills
Demonstrated leadership and strong supervisory skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
High level of integrity and professionalism
Must be fluent in Excel and should have strong PC skills
Must be willing to work flexible hours during monthly, quarterly and year-end closings, as well as for special assignments when requested
Ability to interface with all levels of management as well as with external auditors
Preferred Qualifications:
Certified Public Accountant and/or Big 4 experience
Experience in financial systems such as JD Edwards and Hyperion Financial Management
