Director of Human Resources

As of April 11th, a terrific law firm in the Newark area seeks a Human Resources Director to work closely with attorneys, staff, and firm leadership. This role will involve:

• Play a strategic and hands-on role regarding performance management, staff development, and employee relations.
• Partnering with firm leadership on all people-related initiatives while enhance employee engagement and management effectiveness.
• Coordinating with external vendors on benefits enrollment, plan changes, and negotiations for annual renewals.
• Conducting performance reviews, recommending bonus/merit increases, determining performance improvement plans, and conducting exit/departure procedures.
• Managing and mentoring two direct reports as well as advising other departmental managers on HR best practices.
• Overseeing the talent acquisition process for professional staff.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree and 10+ years of progressive HR leadership experience in a law firm or professional services setting.
• Well-versed in all state and federal employment regulations as well as general HR best practices.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to exercise a professional, diplomatic, and strategic approach.
• Extremely detail-oriented and capable of excelling in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
• Well-versed in benefits administration and related best practices.
