  • Meet ZEDion: Where Automation Meets Instrumentation As ZED Services evolves into ZEDion, we’re doubling down on what we do best!... Building hybrid systems at the intersection of automation and instrumentation. Hybrid systems are where smart sensors meet robotics, analytical platforms become autonomous, and precision / throughput coexist. Why ZEDion? The “ion” in ZEDion symbolizes energy, transformation, and forward motion... qualities we bring to every project. We specialize in automation for analytical and life science instrumentation delivering mechanical, electrical, firmware, and design from concept through production with a startup mindset and enterprise rigor. If you're building the next generation of diagnostic, lab, medical or analytical tech....let’s talk! We don’t just design instruments. We build intelligent systems that scale. #ZEDion #HybridInstrumentation #Automation #MedTech #EngineeringInnovation #LifeSciences

  • Big News from ZED Services LLC After years of pushing the boundaries of electromechanical innovation, we’re taking engineering efficiency to the next level with our latest breakthrough: ZED-GPT – The AI Engineer That Does It All! 🤖 Tired of waiting on design iterations? Need a quick fix for a tricky situation? With ZED-GPT, just type your request, and voilà! Instant, AI-generated solutions. ✅ Need a complex electromechanical design? Just type: "Make it work!" ✅ Unsure about tolerances? ZED-GPT guesses so you don’t have to! ✅ Manufacturing issues? It confidently tells you, "Should be fine!" ✅ Available 24/7 (unless it crashes from "thinking too hard"). Of course, our human engineers insist they're still necessary… something about “real-world constraints” and “physics still being a thing.” But hey, the future is now! Want to see how real engineering happens? Unlike AI, we actually know what we're doing. Let’s talk—drop us a message or visit us www.zed-services.com to work with actual experts. #AprilFools #AIEngineering #ZEDGPT #StillHiringRealEngineers #InnovationWithHumans

  • Most everything we do is a custom tailored solution to solve a unique problem. However, custom and specialized is not always the best answer to a problem. A simple but often over looked problem is external connectivity. Specifically, power and communications. Here is a simple and elegant universal solution to that problem. We designed this simple IO board we are conveniently able to use to solve this problem for two totally different projects. This little module includes DC power inlet barrel jack, externally replaceable fuse, switch, LED and USB-C connection. We have made it such that the module can be mounted internally and be made accessible through enclosures either directly in sheet metal cutouts or a tailorable cover plate for a refined yet flexible finish. The LED can be RED or GREEN by switching the resistor between R1 and R2. Doe you have an application that might benefit from this simple solution to a universal problem?

  • #MassSpectrometer Ion Source Build - Update Part 2 The mounting interface and sample handling module hardware is assembled. We are now waiting on some electronics, a couple sheet metal parts and the lead screw / stepper motor combo for the loader system. Without going into too much detail on the application or theory of operation this autosampler will be mounted to the inlet interface of a mass spectrometer. The sample handling module consists of a single motion axis that moves between load, acquisition and waste positions with a linear actuator mounted to the translating carriage to capture and release a single sample at a time to process through the system for analysis. I should be able to share one more of the final assembly once the rest of the parts come in later this month. Like and follow ZED Services LLC for more on this and the process / special considerations for #design of analytical and life science #instrumentation.

  • My favorite day of the week is any day we get new machined parts in to begin a prototype build. After the months of design, mock-up, testing and evaluation we are excited to be building the real deal. This is set one of parts to build the adjustable mounting flange assembly for a mass spectrometer (MS) ion source. Thanks to Rapid Axis for delivery of high quality machined parts ahead of schedule at a competitive price. Like and Follow ZED Services LLC to see the project come together (as best as we are able to share 😜).

  • Sometimes a little reverse engineering is needed to make the design magic happen.

Chief Engineer Specializing in the Development of Complex Electromechanical Systems for Analytical and Life Science Instrumentation

Over the years I have had really good luck connecting with manufacturers and getting them to send CAD models of their products that I can use in the development of systems that integrate their products. Every now and then you have to fly across country with laptop and measurement tools to borrow an instrument from someone who has one and proceed to sit in a hotel room for a day and a half reverse engineering the critical characteristics needed for a particular project. That is what we had to do to get the details needed to design a mount for NCE EMPOWERING SAFETY to use with their SNAP mounting system and the Stryker LP35 Monitor / Defibrillator. Thanks Gaston County EMS for their support and loaning me a unit to make this happen.
