Sometimes, you get to spend time with leaders from across healthcare who are actually taking the bull by the horns to explore solutions addressing the challenges in our industry. That's what the WBL (Women Business Leaders of the US Health Care Industry Foundation) Summit was. The highlight was sharing ideas with my fellow WBL members. From discussing silos of problems versus condos of care in women's health, to developing ideas on revamping prior-authorization for behavioral health, to brainstorming ways to make personalized medicine accessible, to sharing insights on rebuilding simplicity and regaining trust in healthcare, every conversation left me with so many more ideas! But in addition to that, I really enjoyed hearing from our excellent speakers and panelists. A few highlights included: Dr. Valerie Montgomery Rice, who said that to fix healthcare, we need to be focused on "creativity, innovation, and being fearless," the inspiring Karen Lynch who shared various ideas on making the healthcare workflow more efficient, Pat Geraghty, who encouraged everyone to "walk the talk" and create partnerships, and Eric Griggs, MD, who asked us to think about healthcare as "child-centered, adult-governed, and elder-ruled."
