Pinellas County is one of the gems of Florida with lively art scenes, sports, music, outdoor activities, culture and beautiful beaches, but it is also coming in high on the charts for a far scarier reason. According to the National Center for Drug Abuse Statistics, 7.49% of nationwide overdose deaths occur in Florida. Our community is suffering. We are here to help. If you or someone you love is struggling with addiction, please call 727-322-7222. We are accepting calls 24/7.

This week is National LGBTQ Health Awareness Week, and your environments have an impact on your mental health. When we are loved and supported by our family and community, we thrive in a space of safety and security. When we are bullied, threatened and live in fear, we suffer. Windmoor Healthcare is a supportive space to find healing and support for all. For more information on how we can help, visit windmoor.com.

Dr. Tiffany C., our Patriot Support Program Director; Justin L., our Community, and Veteran Liaison; and Captain, our faithful Hospital Therapy Dog, shared information with prospective nursing students during a Field Placement Fair at the University of South Florida. It was a pleasure to share about our treatment, values, and mission with nursing students as they explore placement sites for this upcoming summer and fall.

All staff at Windmoor Healthcare take Suicide Prevention Training and SMART Training as a part of our culture of safety values. Everyone, regardless of their role in the hospital, has the potential to #betheoneto prevent suicide and ensure a safe environment for all our patients and staff. Our presenters are two great examples of “Remarkable People, Remarkable Care” at our hospital. Alex, Lead Mental Health Technician, and Julie O., RN Educator, and Infection Control Nurse, kept us engaged with the passion and importance conveyed on the topics they taught.

Every day at Windmoor Healthcare feels like Employee Appreciation Day when you know you are coming to be a part of a supportive, caring and compassionate team of staff and leadership. The environment in which we work has been curated with thought and from the heart. Our positive attitudes, integrity, empathy, support, drive and camaraderie are passed from person to person and can be felt throughout the departments. To celebrate our “Remarkable People” and the “Remarkable Care” everyone provides, we donned our favorite superhero shirts to remind us of the characteristics that describe all our employees. We broke bread with one another with the help of Aloha Hawaiian BBQ. Thank you to everyone at Windmoor Healthcare for your dedication and true commitment to patient care in the highest regard!
