There were so many high-quality presentations and conversations at Association for Financial Technology (AFT) Spring. It’s always inspiring to have time with fintech’s agents of change. A few of my personal takeaways include: 👉 Pixar’s Deanna Marsigliese sharing her creative process for character design. It includes gathering inspiration from the design, quirks and beauty of our surroundings daily (people and nature). Getting past “blocks” by simply starting; look at things differently, use a new medium, turn the problem upside down, whatever the trick - start anywhere and then your training and intuition will kick in. (Bonus trivia: there are characters in Luca based on her and her family!) 👉 A panel on #BaaS expressed the excess amount of demand for more partner banks. While it will eventually get to about 10% of FIs, now banks are waiting on the sidelines. Consider the next three years as an open atmosphere for innovation that we can capitalize on. (There is potential to see that slow for the following 8 years.) 👉 Sam Kilmer shared his content quality/reach matrix. In Cornerstone Advisors analysis, fintech brands that produce higher quality content also report higher organic growth. That is regardless of company size, because “content is a great normalizer.” Preach, Sam! And, thanks for the shout out to the William Mills Agency Tradeshow Directory. There was so much more, including nice time with family before the event. I’m feeling grateful.
