Water and climate are deeply connected. At Water.org, we are committed to solutions that help families build resilience while also taking steps to reduce our own environmental impact. As part of their support for Water.org, Rubicon Carbon, a funding partner, helped mitigate our operational carbon footprint. Through a customized portfolio of high-integrity carbon credits, we ensure our work does not contribute to the very crisis we are fighting while also scaling solutions that bring safe water to families facing the greatest climate risks. As Sara Xi explains in her blog post: "Water.org is also leading by example, offsetting its own operational carbon footprint. By utilizing a customized portfolio of high-integrity credits from Rubicon Carbon, Water.org ensures their work doesn’t contribute to the very crisis they’re fighting.” Read more about how carbon markets and water access can work together to create lasting resilience: https://lnkd.in/gvEcjJiq

  • Shifting rainfall patterns, extreme weather, and growing water stress threaten reliable water access, especially for communities with limited resources. Without safe water, families struggle to stay healthy, earn an income, and plan for the future. That’s why Water.org created three solutions to expand access to safe water and sanitation and help families build resilience to a changing environment. WaterCredit: A proven financing model that enables small, affordable loans so families can invest in household water solutions, such as rainwater harvesting systems and storage tanks, ensuring they have a reliable water source at home. WaterConnect: A project development company expanding investment in climate-resilient water and sanitation infrastructure. WaterConnect helps develop investment-ready projects that improve water access, quality, and sustainability for communities facing growing water challenges. WaterEquity: An impact investment manager that mobilizes private capital to scale climate-smart water and sanitation solutions, helping more communities gain lasting access to safe water. #earthday #resilience #waterforall

  • How do we do it? We use philanthropic funds to help our financial institution partners attract commercial capital for water and sanitation loans, so we are using money to source and secure more money and commit those collective funds to our mission. See how far this efficient system will take your donation. https://lnkd.in/dHxxPTF

  • Rising temperatures, unpredictable rainfall, and extreme weather events threaten safe water access for millions. Yet, there is a critical gap between the increasing need for climate-resilient water solutions and the financial resources available to make them a reality. Water.org is working to close this gap by making safe water solutions more accessible and affordable. Through innovative financing, we help families invest in lasting, climate-resilient water access—allowing them weather the challenges ahead. #resilience #WaterForAll #EarthDay

  • The water crisis looks different in different parts of the world. Our solution is adaptable to the various countries where we work, like Uganda. With small, affordable loans made possible by our local, financial partners, families in need often finance rain storage tanks that allow them to capture abundant amounts of water during the region’s long rainy seasons that occur twice each year. Learn more about our work and the safe water and sanitation solutions we help make possible in Uganda. https://lnkd.in/g2qxEzJ4
