About us
The Virginia Department of Veterans Services (DVS) operates 37 benefit offices that assist military veterans and their families in filing claims for federal veterans benefits; three long-term care facilities offering in-patient skilled nursing care, Alzheimer’s/memory care and short-term rehabilitative care for veterans; and three cemeteries that provide an honored final resting place for veterans and their families. DVS provides veterans and family members with direct linkages to services including behavioral healthcare, housing, employment, education and other programs. Did you know? Every six weeks, Veterans Services Representative Charles Reynolds (Springfield Benefits Office) visits the Armed Forces Retirement Home (AFRH) in Washington, DC to assist the veteran residents in submitting their VA claims to receive the benefits they have earned from their time in service. Pictured is Reynolds on the AFRH grounds at Lincoln's Cottage - a place President Lincoln used to visit to get away from the White House where he could see battalions of soldiers camped out. #virginiaveterans
